The Buyer/Planner I is responsible for obtaining materials, components, and equipment. Process requisitions and create Purchase Order (PO) execute transactions in an efficient, accurate manner, and according to Division and Corporate policies. Work closely with Category Managers, site Material Planners, and key partners in the Division. Execute procure to pay (P2P) processes within the sourcing team. Provide vendor reliability data, monitor cost, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Minimize the total cost of transactions without affecting service levels.

Creates and processes purchase orders, direct and indirect, in accordance with documented procurement processes to include, subcontract purchase orders, third party manufacturing orders, and purchase order changes.

Executes procurement plans, reports supplier performance, aligns with contracts, and processes purchase requests, while ensuring the timely and uninterrupted flow of materials between suppliers and site.

Communicates with Management and Stakeholders purchase order status. manages orders through completion and executes closures once fulfilled.

Interacts with suppliers and is responsible for maintaining and, enhancing good business relationship between Abbott and suppliers. communicate component specifications to suppliers.

Mitigate invoicing issues.

Updates vendor performance data. supports development of supplier scorecards and Service Level Agreements (SLA).

Manage the implementation of suppliers (including ensuring the ordering of appropriate first articles and validations).

Facilitate cost savings and quality improvement projects through purchasing.

Manages material master data in SAP.

Uses continuous improvement to establish metrics, drive KPIs, standardize and automate tactical activities over time.

Support site projects that contribute to organizational goals.

Provides audit support of purchasing policies and procedures.


Develops and cultivates a network of internal resources to facilitate completion of tasks.

Individual influence is typically exerted at the peer level. (Planning/Organization) Completes daily work to meet established schedule with guidance from supervisor on prioritization of tasks. (Decision Making/Impact) May exercise authority within pre-established limits and approval.

Completes daily work to meet established schedule with guidance from supervisor on prioritization of tasks (Scope) includes but not limited to : Understanding process improvement Understanding of procurement technologies and tools Understanding of P2P process Organized in planning and good time management skills Understands negotiation and conflict resolution Capable of learning new sourcing tools with an understanding of supply chain management Good communication skills - written and verbal.

Bachelor degree and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
