Location/Division Specific Information

This position will support the Viral Vector Services site in Alachua, FL. Although the individual in this position can be remote, someone in the Southeast U.S would be ideal due to the frequent travel to that site.

How will you make an impact?

The Business Manager develops and manages the business relationship with commercial clients, through understanding the client’s organization and business needs, in order to maximize client service and satisfaction in the overall best interest of Brammer Bio, now part of Thermo Fisher Scientific. This role builds a strong foundational business relationship with key clients and accounts which represent a high level of volume and complexity in a site to generate business growth through identifying and developing business opportunities, partnering with Sales, and the successful completion of Technology Transfers. This person serves as the liaison between our development team in Alachua, FL and Cambridge, MA management to oversee the introduction of new products into the commercial pipeline.

What will you do?

  • Act as the internal client advocate and leader of the assigned business at the site, balancing and driving both the client's and site's requirements and priorities.
  • Develop and manage the business relationship with existing key accounts
  • Identify the decision structure related to product supply and third party manufacturing, and develop an understanding for execution and implementation of supply agreements
  • Ensure that expected service levels are being provided and required planning and technical information is being exchanged appropriately between organizations
  • Lead engagement of the Customer Allegiance Programs
  • Ensure resolution of significant client issues
  • Ensure client and site are operating in compliance with Manufacturing Supply Agreement. Coordinate the generation of Quality Agreements
  • Present commercial service proposals to key account customers. Represent site interests in negotiations of technology transfer and manufacturing supply agreements.
  • Partner with Sales to identify, assess, and implement new business opportunities related to existing key clients.
  • Oversee technology transfer projects to ensure 100% on-time launches
  • Ensure client forecasts are represented accurately in S&OP process and are posted into 3-year planning model

How will you get here?


  • Bachelor or Master degree in Science, preferably in Chemical or Biological Processing
  • MBA would be an added plus


  • At least 8 years of previous experience in the bioprocessing/pharmaceutical industry
  • Viral Vector or Gene Therapy experience highly desired
  • Prior CMO experience preferred
  • Experience in project management, account management, sales, or marketing with internal or external client-facing responsibilities with exposure to Business Development activities
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects in a customer service environment
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Excellent customer facing track record
  • Previous commercial launch experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability in contract negotiations and influencing others to reach agreements
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and other regulations pertaining to the industry
  • Able to function independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to identify market opportunities for new and existing clients and/or products
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate with clients and internal customers with challenging issues in a positive manner
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
