Location/Division Specific Information

The Genetic Sciences Division is a $1.7 billion business with 1100+ employees across the globe. GSD provides high value genomic information to assist critical decisions in research and applied markets, including Basic Research, Clinical Research, Diagnostics, Forensics and AGBio.

How will you make an impact?

The Business Development Manager is responsible for development of law enforcement and military market segment for use of Rapid DNA technology. Defining and driving strategies and ensuring the achievement of lead generation and pipeline growth is a key objective. BD manager will be responsible for revenue target for NA region and will have a strong role in contributing to region overall success.

Responsible for sales and related support activities for Thermo Scientific products to specified accounts throughout the entire US.

What will you do?

  • Develop a growth strategy for law enforcement, military and border control market segment focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction
  • Work closely with core HID team NA on building state specific strategies for rapid DNA technology deployment
  • Develop and manage sales funnel through customer focused activities
  • Provide precise and timely forecast
  • Achieve annual revenue targets
Overnight travel 75-100% depending on location

How will you get here?
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Biology, Molecular Biology, biochemistry or related field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience.
    • Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
  • Understand and help define specific customer needs in terms of procurement process, products, utilization and marketing channels
  • Implement key account management approach in law enforcement agencies by working with cross functional team of field application specialists, marketing managers, service team and project managers
  • Promote the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives
  • Work with legal team on prepare sales contracts ensuring adherence to law-established rules and guidelines

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Participate on customer events, conferences and seminars and successfully represent Thermo Fisher company and Applied Biosystems brand
  • Manage system demonstrations, organize workshops and seminars by working closely with the marketing managers and product marketing managers regionally
  • Assist and work with regional marketing team in the development of sales support materials including brochures, applications notes, product data sheets, competitive matrices, and technical presentations
  • Assist in the execution of Marketing campaigns (on-line and through events) by working closely with Regional Marketing Manager, rapid sales and HID core members
