The US Retail Bank and Mortgage (USRBM) business provides a wide variety of financial products and services to help meet our customers needs. The Decision Management organization supports the US Retail Bank & Mortgage business by providing data & analytic support and critical insights to drive acquisition and customer relationship deepening.  Decision Management provides a wide range of analytic and production services to the Business such as: marketing campaign execution & performance analysis; customer, segment and channel analytics; advanced analytics tool development; and overall data management & reporting. 

One critical tool that is developed and maintained by USRBM Decision Management on behalf of our front-line sales staff is the Book of Business process, which involves assignment of customers and their related accounts to Branch Sales Teams for customer relationship management (CRM) purposes. 
The Decision Management team is looking for a strong data management professional with effective project management skills to join the team and coordinate the integrated Book of Business process and support other Data Management Team priorities.  Essential to this role is the ability to develop, review and analyze Book of Business process outputs, validate for accuracy and certify process results. Additionally, the incumbent may be asked to support a wide range of adhoc data & analytical requests, directly tied to Decision Management business priorities.
The Data Management team:
  • Serves as the centralized supplier of data to the Decision Management Team and our various partners.
  • Is responsible and accountable for maintaining and continuously enhancing the department's UNIX/SAS based analytical platform and the legacy processes that feed it.
  • Develops & maintains the monthly data processes & reporting routines to deliver Book of Business
  • Works very closely with other functional departments of the USRBM Decision Management Team as well as Finance, Originations, and Compliance, to supports data sub-processes used by them.
  • Design, implement, and maintain integrated SAS macro reporting/MIS systems.
  • Provide routine and ad hoc reports, using base SAS on Windows and UNIX AIX platforms.
  • Manage, import and convert data from various data formats, file systems and relational databases to improve data access, efficiency and effectiveness for analytic teams.
  • Supports the GCB EAP Platform evolution to a Big Data environment
  1. Specific Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for working with Data Management Team, Sales Reporting and Front Line Sales Team members and other Business partners to manage the Retail Bank Book of Business Process which is used by the Retail Sales to manage & grow customer relationships on behalf of the Retail Business and Consumer Bank, overall.  The incumbent will work cross functionally to:
  • Manage and maintain data processes which ensure accurate and timely delivery for the Book of Business
  • Coordinate cross-functional inputs, support and project timelines among Sales Reporting, Retail Sales and Data Management partners related to monthly Book processes
  • Lead Book Process testing & validation routines to ensure validity and accuracy of Book assignments, performance reporting and overall process effectiveness.
  • Work with Data Management & Business Partners to recommend, code, test and implement new automation routines to improve Book data process reliability and availability
  • Research & resolve Book Data inquiries; escalate issues to Business Intelligence Team and data owners
  • Support Decision Management Analytic Community by successfully completing adhoc data requests which support business priorities
  • Work with your manager and other Data Management Team members to drive ongoing enhancements to improve the effective delivery and access to essential data required to grow our business


  • Bachelors or higher degree in a Engineering
  • Advanced technical skills including 5+ years experience and proficiency in SAS, SQL, R, and/or Python in a large Unix and relational database environment required
  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing complex and highly visible data intensive projects in a large scale corporate environment
  • Comfortable working hands on with large datasets and bringing data together from disparate sources
  • Outstanding critical thinking and problem solving skills as well as passionately curious
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively present results of complex analysis to senior management
  • Evaluative take a critical stance when evaluating information, look for potential problems
  • Data Rational like working with numbers and basing decisions on facts and figures
  • Detail Conscious focuses on detail and takes a methodical, systematic, and organized approach
  • Innovative and creative, with a curious, logical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Must be highly motivated, creative, confident and must have great communications skills across all business disciplines and levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of and experience with a third party Business Intelligence tool (e.g. Qlikview, Cognos, Tableau, Business Objects) is a plus.
