Position description
The Blood Pressure Technician is responsible and expected to perform multiple roles within the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension. Assists physician(s) with cardiac diagnostic testing and performs all tasks relating to automated blood pressure monitoring, Holter monitoring and Hemodynamic testing. Job expectations include: obtaining and recording patient information, placement and removal of cardiac testing devices, prepping and educating patients for testing, downloading results, assisting physicians with interpretation of findings, editing, producing, and finalizing reports after physician interpretation, managing calendars within Epic, cleaning patient exam rooms, ordering and maintaining equipment and providing support for the nursing staff regarding hemodynamic testing. Responsible for the training of new and float staff. Uses effective judgment and problem solving skills in a teamwork environment. Maintains a high level of expertise. Independently functions with minimal supervision. Requires competence in a variety of equipment and the ability to navigate multiple electronic applications, examples include: Spacelabs (Sentinal) and ABPM. Practices safety guidelines for themselves, support personnel and patients. May be asked to assist with emergency situations when they arise. Maintains flexibility and may be required to work varied hours and shift lengths.
Qualifications
High school graduate.
Additional qualifications
Ability to learn and perform highly technical skills, accurate blood pressure measurement. Excellent patient interaction skills. Attention to detail. Ability to handle difficult situations, remain calm under stress, manage emotional situations, display empathy and maintain positive communication during a rapidly changing/dynamic environment. Must be willing to adjust work schedules in response to department or clinical needs. Able to manage and prioritize tasks simultaneously while working directly with patients who may exhibit diverse needs.
License or certification
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $16.59 per hour.

Monday – Friday; Days, variety of 8 & 10-hour shifts – NOT NEGOTIABLE
