The Harborview Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, temporary/hourly, SPEECH PATHOLOGIST/AUDIOLOGIST SPECIALIST 2. Under general supervision, this individual will assess, plan, administer, evaluate and provide safe audiology services. This will include progression of treatment goals and patient and family education. The Audiologist Specialist will assess and treat a patient caseload ranging from routine to complex patient problems and situations and utilize training in the evaluation and treatment process. Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission to discharge. Instruct, assign work and evaluate students as assigned by supervisor. Acts as a resource within the Audiology department for other health care professional. Participate in service or selected department activities/projects to promote delivery of quality audiology services. Provide education training to other audiology staff and health care professionals in areas of expertise within the service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate working knowledge of the disease process, precautions, typical medical treatment and diagnostic procedures, functional, abilities, complications and implications of long term deficits related to primary diagnoses treated in service area

Provide skilled, timely and effective patient care

Demonstrate in depth knowledge in Audiology related services

Follows protocol, standards and guidelines of care relating to specific diagnosis on assigned service

Plan treatment programs with the patient and treatment team

Document intervention and strategies for treatment in required organizational systems. Documentation is to include assessment, measurable criteria, goals method of treatment, home programs and adapting plan according to patient’s response to intervention

Participate in team rounds and other educational information to patient and support systems prior to termination of therapy intervention

Provide home programs and other educational information to patient and support systems prior to termination of therapy intervention

Knowledge of other treatment team member’s roles with intervention and effective methods to collaborate in patient’s treatment

Coordinate patient care programs with treatment team to facilitate and enhance functional outcomes

Follow billing and reimbursement procedures

Comply with agency and division standards, protocols procedures

Assist in the development of procedures and protocols for the service area

May be assigned to participate in either hospital or division wide committee to represent the workgroup and or discipline

Participate in discipline and workgroup meetings

Participate in Quality Assurance as it relates to patient care

Assist supervisor in the review of the quality and appropriateness of individual programs and procedures

Articulate and integrate safety policies and procedures into daily practice

Supervise students as assigned by supervisor

REQUIREMENTS:
A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Audiology or Communicative Disorders or documentation of American Speech-Language Hearing Association approved equivalent to the Master’s degree consisting of approved curriculum and student practicum hours.
AND
A Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
Two years of experience as a speech pathologist or audiologist is preferred.

LEGAL REQUIREMENT:
Licensed as a Speech Pathologist by the WA State Department of Health

DESIRED:
Three years of experienced as a Speech Pathologist/Audiologist
