Job Description: 

  • Maintain total awareness and understanding of all DoD personnel and physical security policies, procedures and work instructions in collaboration with team members and continually evaluate them to identify issues requiring updates and/or revision as wells as provide corrective action and impetus to management decisions and approvals.
  • Attain and maintain an expert level of proficiency with U.S. government personnel security and reporting databases (i.e. Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS), DISS, and Scattered Castles) to ensure prompt & current management oversight of cleared S&AS personnel.
  • Attain and maintain an expert level of proficiency with the visitor control and personnel security record applications within SIMS security database software and general use and application of all others.
  • Administer, address and complete personnel security requirements with employees/contractors regarding issues, report preparation, fingerprinting, program security access briefings, and clearance/access maintenance for briefed employees
  • Oversees the planning, installation, implementation, control and operation of security systems, i.e. Facility Commander, Matrix.  Performs access control database validation and ensures continuous integrity of facility & secure area access controls.  Creates reports as required.
  • Assists in directing and training of contract security personnel.
  • Monitors, reviews and follows up on shift reports as required, or when requested by Security Manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Site Security SharePoint is updated with respect to content and database management.
  • Provides input to Security Manager to ensure adequate resources are available to support required maintenance and operations functions (software upgrades, equipment upgrades, service agreements, et al).
  • Responsible for accuracy and adequacy of data input while utilizing specialized security applications, forms, reports, etc.
  • Responsible for effective communications regarding security by interfacing with or liaising with external customers (Government, Associate Contractors, Subcontractors, former employees) and internal L3Harris organizations
  • Provide guidance/interpretation of company and government policies and procedures.
  • Initiates processes and procedures to fill identified voids. Knows points of contact for guidance when questions arise.
  • Maintains current files and employs initiative in establishing new files, as necessary, in a manner enabling easy retrieval of information.
  • Files forms, records, reports, paperwork, mail, etc. in alphabetical or time sequenced order such that information is easily retrieved.
  • Responsible for incident management and data input in collaboration with security management. Specific duties will require entering incident into security databases and personnel files.
  • Collaborate with Security team to ensure electronic SharePoint forms and CML documents are current and process flows work as intended.
  • Operates facsimile, copier, personal computer, tape machine, telephone, computer printer, secure facsimile, and STE in support of security operations, program requirements and business proposal efforts.
  • Assists in the development and presentation of security education and training programs; identifies required training subject matter.
  • Performs security related specialized tasks and miscellaneous administrative duties as directed by supervision.
  • Provides direction and training for security group personnel less proficient and less knowledgeable in the various functional disciplines.
  • Facilitates and champions teamwork and collaborative efforts among Security group members to ensure timely completion of group project tasks and responsibilities.
  • Responsible for discretion in handling and the protection of a variety of personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974.

    Essential Functions:

    • Personnel Security – investigation requests, fingerprinting, processing personnel security reports, briefings, visit certs, SIMS record updates
    • Physical Security – maintaining work instructions, access control validation and updates, Closed Area briefing, maintenance and operations of cameras, DVRs, access control systems.


      • Bachelor’s Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior security experience OR 2 years post-Secondary/ Associate’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior security experience.
      • Secret Security Clearance Required

        Preferred Skills:

        • COMSEC experience, access control and security information management system experience
