Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas is excited to invite candidates to apply for the Associate Dean of Students/Director of Student Life position within the Office of Student Life. The Associate Dean, reporting to the Dean of Students, provides oversight and vision to all programs and services, including, but not limited to: Registered Student Organizations, Bear Den, Fraternity and Sorority Life, CubConnect, and University Events. This position also plays an integral role in the conduct process for all student organizations and represents Student Life on various campus committees.

Student Life is home to 24 national/international fraternities and sororities and all registered student organizations (RSOs). Student Life provides leadership, training, and engagement to all RSOs and host several university events including; Welcome Week Activities, Family Day, Whos Who Recognition Ceremony, Greek Week, Student Involvement Awards, Homecoming, and more.

Occasional evening and weekend hours required, as well as occasional response to emergency situations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide direct supervision to 3 full-time staff members, a graduate assistant, and student employees.
Manage the Student Life Office, including but not limited to, management and administration of Student Life budget, oversight of daily operations, and review and revision of office procedures.
Serve as advisor to the Greek Judicial Board and work with the Dean of Students on standards enforcement for Greek and registered student organizations.
Provide oversight to large-scale university programming including: Family Day, Whos Who Recognition Ceremony, Greek Week, Homecoming Week, Student Involvement Awards, Welcome Week Activities, and other campus-wide initiatives and programs.
Advise one or more of the following councils: Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, Greek Elite, Greek Alumni Advisory Board, and Order of Omega Greek Leadership Honorary Society.
Serve as a campus administrator for CubConnect, which is the universitys student engagement platform.
Establish and maintain relationships and partnerships with athletics, academic departments, chapter advisors, Greek alumni, national offices, student organizations, and other departments and divisions.
Develop annual and long-term goals and implement strategic planning, evaluation, and assessment initiatives to strengthen student life functional areas.
Develop and coordinate trainings, retreats, and presentations for students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Provide emergency response and crisis intervention to the campus community when needed.
Review, assess, establish, disseminate, and interpret University policies and procedures as they pertain to the fraternity and sorority community and registered student organizations.
Represent the Office of Student Life on committees, task forces, working groups, special initiatives, and professional associations as appropriate.
Serve as the University co-chair for Homecoming activities.
Assist in the creation, revision and distribution of publications, marketing materials and social media presence for Student Life.
Remain competent and current on national trends in higher educations and risk management practices related to Greek Life.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience advising Greek councils (IFC, PHA, NPHC, UGC).
Budget management experience.
Strong advising skills and demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with student organizations, fraternity and sorority governing councils, and alumni advisors.

Required Education and/or Experience

Masters degree in college student personnel services, higher education, or other relevant discipline required.
3-5 years of related experience with at least two years of supervisory experience.
Experience working with student organizations.
Membership with a national/international fraternity or sorority required.
Experience working with NPC, NPHC and IFC students, alumni and advisors.
Ability and willingness to function as a member of a team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; and interpersonal skills.
Experience coordinating trainings, retreats, and large-scale programming.

and strong private K12 schools. Residents have easy access to the Ouachita
and Ozark National forests and pristine wildlife areas near the Buffalo
National River.
