About the Position
The Balance Sheet Strategy and Optimization team within Citi's Corporate Treasury is responsible for establishing the methodologies for allocating and costing balance sheet resources, such as capital and liquidity, across the firm. These methodologies play a key role in evaluating business returns, making incremental investment decisions, and managing the firms scarce resources.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join the Capital Analysis team within the Balance Sheet Solutions & Optimization group. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for:
  • Analyzing Tangible Common Equity (TCE) usage across Citigroup's businesses
  • Analyzing the location and costs of Book Capital held in various legal vehicles across the firm
  • Supporting the evolution of Citi's TCE allocation methodology and Book Capital costing methodology in line with market and regulatory developments
  • Working with the businesses to help them understand their capital usage and its drivers, and evaluate strategies for improving Return on TCE (RoTCE)
  • Managing the process for reporting and forecasting Allocated TCE across Citigroup, which would require significant interaction with the Planning, Technology, and Financial Reporting teams
  • Working with the Corporate P&A and M&A teams to estimate TCE and RoTCE impact of strategic actions


2+ years of experience working in the finance industry
  • Minimum Bachelors degree from a top tier school
  • Masters or other relevant advanced qualification, or Financial Services consulting experience, would be a plus
  • Working knowledge of bank regulatory capital metrics, their calculation and application
  • Working knowledge of financial risk management and valuation techniques
  • Experienced in the use of Excel, PowerPoint and VBA
  • Analytical background with strong problem solving skills and an ability to assimilate complex information across a variety of financial disciplines
  • Sound communication skills, oral and written, with ability to converse with a wide variety of people across functions / seniority
  • High energy, self-starter with a flexible and pragmatic attitude and a desire to show continued progress
