Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas seeks an Assistant Professor of Journalism (Tenure Track) in the area of Broadcasting. The University of Central Arkansas Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track and a nine-month appointment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to) teaching courses in news production as well as supervision of daily student news broadcast productions.
Knowledge of video and audio recording and editing and broadcast production is essential.
The successful candidate is one committed to teaching in a liberal arts environment and is intent on maintaining an active artistic and scholarly life.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Candidates should have a working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and other editing systems.
Candidates must also have knowledge of multi-media journalism, web development, social media, audience engagement, and the rapidly evolving online news environment.

Required Education and/or Experience

A terminal degree or significant progress toward a terminal degree is required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

Professional experience and/or college teaching experience preferred. A research background is preferred with a relevant professional or scholarly record. This is a nine-month appointment with competitive salary, starting August 2020.
