Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track and a nine-month appointment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking faculty to teach and advise graduate students in the entry level Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, conduct research, and contribute to service and community engagement goals of the department and university. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to creatively engage students in didactic and experiential learning opportunities, and collaborate with faculty members to implement, modify, and regularly review program curriculum.
Faculty responsibility also includes student advisement/mentoring, participation in department meetings, committee assignments at the department, college, and university levels.
As a member of the faculty, the individual will work collaboratively with the program director, faculty, and staff for program assessment and student learning outcomes, engage in a process of formative and summative course evaluation to enhance student learning experiences, and participate in efforts to meet accreditation standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Teaching/academic experience, commitment to student learning and success, and strong written and interpersonal communications skills are important.

Required Education and/or Experience

Qualified applicants must have an academic doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field (PhD or EdD). Candidates nearing completion of doctoral degree will be considered. A clinical doctorate is not acceptable for this position. The successful candidate demonstrates an area of practice and/or research expertise, a record of teaching effectiveness, an active research agenda or evidence of a line of research, and the ability to facilitate faculty mentored student research.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

This position is open to applicants with expertise in any area of practice, however; preference may be given to those with experience in the following areas; orthopedics, musculoskeletal conditions, mental health conditions, anatomy.

License(s)/Certifications (Required or Preferred)

Applicants must hold a license, or be eligible for a license, to practice occupational therapy in Arkansas and provide record of initial certification as an occupational therapy practitioner (if applicant is an occupational therapist).
