The School of Nursing, Simulation Center, has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Assistant Director-Clinical Nurse Educator. This position will provide clear expectations in regard to the roles and responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Educators in collaborating with faculty, teaching assistants, and the director of the simulation center.

Roles and Responsibilities as 50% Assistant Director: The Simulation Center Assistant Director will work with staff and the Director of the Simulation Center to support the lab with the following:
Orientation of newly hired staff including Administrative Assistants, Teaching Assistants, and Clinical Nurse Educators
Delegation of lab related tasks including upkeep and maintenance of the lab to appropriate staff
Completion of quarterly OneDrive calendar including transferring scheduled labs from outlook to OneDrive calendar, deciding on necessary staffing, totally teaching hours, and communicating scheduling needs and issues with Teaching Assistants and Clinical Nurse Educators
Oversee bi-weekly lab supply orders by Administrative Assistant
Assign staff projects to Clinical Nurse Educators and Teaching Assistants and monitoring progress
Make updates as needed to Simulation Center Roles and Responsibilities and Policies and Procedure documents
Update General Inventory lists and Course fees lists to adequately reflect new supplies and equipment being used for courses
Make updates to Simulation Center training materials and keep an ongoing list of staff completion of training upon hire

Roles and Responsibilities as 50% Clinical Nurse Educator: The Simulation Center Clinical Nurse Educator will work with Teaching Assistants, faculty, the Assistant Director, and the Director to support the lab with the following:
Teach and evaluate basic nursing skills as directed by Clinical Nurse Educators and faculty
Assist in helping students as necessary with lab course skills
Meet with faculty to coordinate the delivery of undergraduate labs including teaching and student guides, equipment, IT needs, supplies to be ordered, simulations, course fees, and necessary staffing
Communicate lab specific needs and announcements via canvas for each current course
Communicate student needs or concerns, absences, tardiness, and makeup sessions via canvas
Develop supply lists in collaboration with Teaching Assistants for courses
Communicate with Simulation Center staff regarding teaching plan, TA involvement, and set up for each lab
Communicate supply needs to Teaching Assistants for ordering
Organize clipboard, teaching guides, and other course materials in staff office
Organize course related documents on OneDrive including making updates and placing old documents in Archive folders
Run simulations in collaboration with faculty, Teaching Assistants, and the Simulation technologist
Write undergraduate simulations in collaboration with faculty and Teaching Assistants
Make edits and updates to teaching guides, student guides, and student preparatory materials
Process and summarize evaluations and report results to faculty and Simulation Center staff
Attend Simulation Center staff meetings

A masters degree or higher in a nursing related field
Current Washington State Nursing License required 
Expertise in the care of the hospitalized and/or outpatient adults and/or children
Expertise in the care of hospitalized and/or outpatient Pediatric or Obstetrical patients
Knowledge in the subject of nursing skills
Experience in nursing and skills content
Some teaching experience preferred 
Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
Ability to solve problems creatively
Must have a minimum of two years of experience working with patients in either the inpatient or outpatient setting
Complete necessary Simulation related training within one month of hire

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
