Position Summary

The University of Central Arkansas is excited to invite candidates to apply for the Assistant Dean of Students within the Office of Student Life. The Assistant Dean, reporting to the Associate Dean of Students, is responsible for assisting with the services provided by the Office of Student Life as well as advising and providing guidance to Greek chapters and council in the areas of, membership recruitment and education, risk management, problem resolution, cultural competence, and community building. This position is also responsible for assisting with the student conduct process and may help with the supervision of student and graduate staff.

Student Life is home to 26 national/international fraternities and sororities and all registered student organizations (RSOs). Student Life provides leadership, training, and engagement to all RSOs and host several university events including; Welcome Week Activities, Family Day, Whos Who Recognition Ceremony, Greek Week, Homecoming, and more.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Coordinate and plan Welcome Week Activities, Family Day, Whos Who Recognition Ceremony, Greek Week, Homecoming, Student Involvement Awards, and other campus-wide initiatives and programs.
Advise one or more of the following councils: Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic, Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, Greek Elite, Greek Alumni Advisory Board, and Order of Omega Greek Leadership Honorary Society.
Provide assistance to the Office of the Dean of Students in the conduct adjudication process for RSOs.
Attend appropriate University functions and campus events to maintain visibility/approachability.
Design, implement, and evaluate leadership development training through retreats, institutes, workshops and programs for fraternity and sorority members and community constituents.
Identify mechanisms to regularly assess needs, satisfaction and learning outcomes of members of fraternities and sororities.
Establish, disseminate, and interpret University policies and procedures as they pertain to the fraternity and sorority community.
Provide emergency response and crisis intervention to the campus community when needed.
Assist in the creation, revision and distribution of publications, marketing materials and social media presence for Student Life.
Represent the Office of Student Life and Greek Life on committees, task forces, working groups, special initiatives and professional associations as appropriate
Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development coursed, and attending training.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Experience advising fraternities and governing council (IFC, PHA, NPHC, MGC).
Demonstrated track record of increasing chapter growth, recruitment participation and membership retention with fraternities and sororities.
Strong advising skills and demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with student organizations, fraternity and sorority governing councils, and alumni advisors.
Thorough understanding and appreciation for the fraternity and sorority community on both a local and national level, and the ability to articulate this to various internal and external stakeholders.

Required Education and/or Experience

Masters degree in college student personnel services, higher education, or other relevant discipline required.
Membership with a national/international fraternity or sorority required.
Experience working with fraternities and/or sororities. At the undergraduate or graduate level.
Ability and willingness to function as a member of a team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; and interpersonal skills
Commitment to diversity.

Founded in 1907, UCA has an enrollment of more than 11,000, of which
approximately 1,800 are graduate students. The university offers more than
90 undergraduate and 60 graduate certificate and degree programs, including
seven doctoral programs. The student body consistently scores above the

and Ozark National forests and pristine wildlife areas near the Buffalo
