**A Day in the Life**


A **_Situate_** Area Sales
Manager is responsible for selling Situate to hospitals within theArea
Sales Managers assigned territory. This requires a number of capabilities
including knowledge of the operating room, the ability to build a team of
clinical champions within each hospital, strong solution selling skills, and
enough tenacity to insure sales objectives are met on a consistent basis. **_Situate_** Area
Sales Managers are expected to provide an extraordinary degree of information
gathering and presenting to buying teams throughout the capital equipment purchasing
process.


**Roles and Responsibilities**


+ Manage the complex salesprocess of **_Situate_** into new hospitals andupgrades into existing hospitals. Product: initial capital sale, thenreoccurring cotton sales

+ Build support from surgeonsand administration for the **_Situate System_** . Identifykey institutions, generate market awareness, and drive sales of the **_SituateSystem_** in an assigned sales territory.

+ Main call-points are ChiefMedical Officer, VP of Quality, Director of Risk, Chief of Surgery

+ Ability to manage 6-10prospects, while focusing on a smaller subset that can move forward toclose in the current quarter

+ Ability to develop an accountstrategy based upon their own research; key personnelsbackground,quality issues, what they care about, etc.

+ Effectively manage transitionof initial sale and installation to the clinical team to drive proceduralvolume and growth.

+ Promotes and sells Medtronic'sMedical/Scientific Equipment products and services includingnon-implantable medical or scientific equipment products and/or services(e.g., diagnostic medical equipment, medical imaging machines, medicallaboratory equipment, and non-implantable medical devices) within anassigned geographic area and /or specific customer accounts to meet orexceed sales targets.

+ Responsible for developing,building, and strengthening long-term relationships with stakeholdersincluding hospitals, physicians, and Radiology and Surgical personnel.

+ Responsible for pursuingleads, assessing needs and providing product services to maximize thebenefits derived from Medtronic's Medical/Scientific Equipment productsand/or services.

+ Conducts and/or evaluatesmarket research including customers and competitors activities.

+ Develops and/or implementsmarket development plans/strategies and changes as needed.

+ Assesses customer needs andfeedback regarding new products and/or modifications to existing productsand communicates to internal stakeholders including RD, Operationsand Marketing.


**Performance Objectives**


+ Achieve quarterly sales targets.

+ Work with the **_Situate_** RegionalSales Director to develop a sales plan for the Area Sales Managers localterritory.

+ Build high level clinicalsupport at each hospital.

+ Develop initial contact andrelationship with hospital executive leadership team.

+ Organize and manage the salesprocess.

+ Develop knowledge of the ORand efficiency gained through Situate implementation.

+ Make business case for systempurchase and ask for the business.

+ Condense timelines

+ Resolve contractual issues andcoordinate system installation upon purchase approval.

+ Handle all communications andadministrative follow-up.


**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**


+ Bachelors degree required

+ Minimum of 7 years of sales experience and expert level knowledge of company products and services


**Nice to Have**


+ Medicalsales experience, Knowledge of the operating room environment

+ SolutionSales experience capital preferred. Hunter mentality, comfortable with alonger sales cycle

+ Strongpresentation skills; orally and with power point. Need to becomfortable using Excel to create product comparison spending analysis

+ Familiaritywith _The Challenger Sale_ model is a plus.

+ Generalunderstanding of healthcare economics; how best practices aligned withcorporate quality initiatives to generate a positive ROI

+ Excellentcommunication and interpersonal skills

+ Extensive travel- abilityto travel 50-75%
