As an Applied Scientist specializing in Mapping, you will be expected to:

€¢ Develop, integrate, and deploy algorithms related to all areas of mapping to assist in global path planning, exploration, semantic understanding, and more.

€¢ Invent and deploy innovative solutions to leverage machine learning, deep learning, and other state of the art technologies to enhance the robot's understanding of it's surroundings.

€¢ Collaborate closely with Robotics, machine learning scientists and Hardware teams to develop and productionalize new and innovative ways to enhance human-robot interaction and experiences.

€¢ Take responsibility for technical problem solving, including creatively meeting product objectives and developing best practices.

€¢ Follow software practices that produce maintainable code, including automated testing, continuous integration, code style conformity, and code review.

€¢ Help hire and develop other Applied Scientists.


  • PhD or equivalent Master's Degree plus 4+ years of experience in CS, CE, ML or related field
  • 2+ years of experience of building machine learning models for business application
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

  • Enrolled in a PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, Statistics or related fields
  • Experience in Java, C++, SQL, R, MATLAB, Python, or similar scripting and programming languages
  • Experience in design of experiments, statistical analysis, implementing algorithms in computer vision using both toolkits and self-developed code
  • Experience in solving business problems through machine learning, data mining and statistical algorithms
  • Experience in state-of-the-art Robotics related technologies
  • Experience with bundle adjustment, 3d geometry, sensor fusion, 3d reconstruction, and image processing algorithms
