AppD Senior Solutions Architect

The Solutions Architect provides technical and sales process expertise and oversight over the West Region. Their main responsibility is to proactively discover, assess, prioritize and mitigate risk in deals across the organization as well as to design and implement programs to reduce recurring risk on an ongoing basis. They are aligned to the West team Director scope and compensation plan. The SA should have or have the ability to develop a formal network of contacts within AppDynamics teams (CS, PS, PM) that allows them to act as an in-org version of AppDynamics HQ. The SA is empowered to assert themselves into deals as they see fit to positively impact the deal closing and bring their mastery of AppDynamics product, ecosystem knowledge and contacts to bear for that goal. SAs also mentor SEs as they work together on opportunities. SAs are trusted technical partners for ADs and RVPs for their organization. SAs also plan, develop and deploy territory or organization wide programs as the need arises. As a thought leader in the organization the SA continually thinks about how they can widen their impact and lift up the whole of the organization by using all the resources available to them, including the wider Field Architecture team

They may also be called upon by other Solutions Architects to:

  • Solve the most complex technical challenges
  • Research product or ecosystem technical aspects and/or options
  • Analyze customer environments, application architecture and performance profiles
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge to knock customers socks off and establish AppDynamics as the best possible partner
  • Provide feedback to Product Management as well as stay several steps in front of the rest of the Sales Engineering organization in terms of roadmap, upcoming features and advanced product capabilities
Responsibilities:
High emotional IQ is the most important requirement
Ability to assess gaps and needs, design solutions and proactively implement their agenda with minimal direction
Ability to find opportunities to de-risk and high comfort level in constructively asserting themselves in opportunities and with account teams and management Proven track record as an SE of exceptional technical and process execution in deals of all sizes
Track record or ability to think at an organizational level to identify and assess gaps in personnel, process, skills or any other area
Track record or ability to design and independently implement programs to address these needs
Must have experience driving and closing sizeable and complex deals
Completion of certifications in desired focus area Experience/Skills:
5+ years experience in systems performance or application performance management
3+ years experience as a Sales Engineer or similar technical pre-sales role
Proven track record of consistency in sales and technical campaign execution
Deep knowledge of all aspects of AppDynamics product, above and beyond what is expected of Sales Engineers
Extensive knowledge of the software ecosystem in which AppDynamics operates
Previous development and/or software systems architecture design preferred
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to speak to all levels of customer organizations from developers and technical staff to C level executives
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple varied workstreams at once Ability to coach and mentor Sales Engineers in the organization at large
