Analytic Athlete Full Time Student Opportunity (Graduate & PhD)

Start Date: June or August 2020

Our Analytics team is helping lead the effort to transform healthcare and drive strategic business decisions by conducting rigorous analyses of digital and marketing programs to unlock insights and drive business growth. Models developed are integrated into CVS production systems, where theyll affect 10,000 pharmacies and 100,000 pharmacy team members across the country.

What this business area supports:

As a key member of the Enterprise Analytics team, you will work with a variety of business partners from across the enterprise to both support the development of innovative programs to improve patient outcomes as well as reduce cost and improve efficiency across CVS Health.

What you will do:

Collaborate with business partners from product development and management, operations and finance to demonstrate value of CVS Health products and services

Be responsible for the design, development and delivery of analytic solutions

Enable data-driven strategic decision-making and find opportunities for existing product improvement and new product development

Translate business needs into analytic questions

Design and conduct rigorous analyses of pharmacy data, medical claims and other data translating your analytic findings for appropriate business and customer audiences

Develop and Implement machine learning models and optimization algorithms

Collaborate with key internal and external partners to gather and analyze needs and requirements

Access data, construct and manipulate large datasets to support planned analyses, using SQL and similar tools

Conduct analyses of the data, ranging from descriptive ad-hoc analyses to in-depth investigations of drug pricing, healthcare utilization trends and outcomes with several statistical modeling approaches, such as regression modeling, time-series analyses, optimization and machine learning techniques including random forests and ensemble models

Design and implement robust analytic and reporting solutions to support the identified needs

Construct and deliver written reports of your findings in a variety of formats (reports, PPT, including visualization of your findings, formulate recommendations, and effectively present the results to with non-analytic audiences

Tailor the analytic solution to the specific client need and constraints of delivery timelines

Apply creativity in developing analytic solutions based on available data sources, and representing analytic findings in reports, tools, and other media to support most effective translation and application for our customers

Manage complex projects related to a wide variety of financial, utilization, and clinical business needs

**Required Qualifications**

3+ years of previous work experience in data analysis and predictive modeling

3+ years experience using R and Python

3+ years experience using advanced technical skills, with proficiency in SQL

Experience with relational databases

Proven competencies in collaboration, creative problem solving and agility

Possess a strong curiosity to continuously learn data science techniques and tools

Be able to work in a climate of ambiguity

Have strong organization skills

Demonstrate excellent relationship management, strong team building and the ability to work across business units within a complex organization

Excellent project management skills and ability to deliver in the fast-paced evolving environment

Educational background may serve as a substitute for part or all of the length of relevant employment requirement

**Preferred Qualifications**

Experience with machine learning (i.e. feature engineering, model selection, validation, etc.) or price optimization

Experience developing and applying forecasting methods and models

Proven ability constructing, validating, and maintaining predictive models in healthcare settings

Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop and Spark

Knowledge and experience with healthcare industry and healthcare data

Experience with time series and forecasting methods

Experience working with data visualization platforms such as Tableau and MicroStrategy


Currently pursuing a Masters or PhD degree with an anticipated graduation date between December 2019 and June 2020

Preferred/relevant majors in qualitative field, such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Analytics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Finance or Economics
