Job Summary

We are seeking visionary and dynamic Economics leadership for the Americas Economics Practice. The primary responsibilities are to lead and grow the Economics practice of the Americas with the goal of driving innovation and excellence, thought leadership, project management, and technical and delivery success for local, regional and global clients and communities. This role will report to the Americas Lead of the Planning & Urbanism Group with the Buildings + Places Business Line.

AECOMs Design and Consulting Services Operating Group in the Americas (DCSA) is a $5B architecture, engineering, and consulting business with market-leading positions in Transportation, Water, Buildings, Government, Energy, and Environment. The Buildings + Places (B+P) Business Line, within DCSA, incorporates the Architecture, Building Engineering, Interior Design, Planning, Economics, Landscape Architecture, and Strategy+ Consulting Services across key markets including Cities, Corporate, Government, Transportation, Education, Healthcare, Justice, Mission Critical, Themed Entertainment/Leisure and Sports markets. Our Buildings + Places teams have planned and designed renowned urban environments including Liberty Park, New York; 34 th Street Harbor, Chicago; Denver Union Station, Denver; Yards West, Washington, DC; One Shenzhen Bay Landscape, China; Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, Washington, DC; LA2028 Olympic Bid, Los Angeles; Golden 1 Center Urban Plan, Sacramento, CA.

Our Economics practice advises our clients on economic and financial planning issues for a myriad of commercial land uses, including theme parks, hotels and resorts, complex mixed-use developments as well as economic regeneration schemes. Our projects include economic feasibility studies for new developments such as Riversedge, St. Paul, MN and Southwest Brooklyn, NY; feasibility studies for themed entertainment venues and resorts; sustainable economics such as the Social Vulnerability Index for the City of Montral and infrastructure finance for climate adaptation for the Resources Legacy Fund, CA.

We are seeking an individual who is an industry-recognized leader in Economics and who has strong client relationships and an established client and industry network. The ideal candidate understands and has a proven track record in driving business fundamentals that include client leadership, business development, financial oversight, design quality, technical and digital innovation, project delivery, and has the ability to convey market-leading Economics solutions.


  • In collaboration with the Americas Planning & Urbanism Lead and Regional Leadership, responsible for developing and executing the strategic growth plan for the Economics business, including developing and executing client outreach goals

  • Drive growth in the Americas Economics Practice leveraging Economics expertise in all regions and pursuing clients across all relevant B+P Markets

  • Advocate excellence and lead the Americas strategy for Economics in assuring that we are building client relationships, strategically pre-positioning winning and delivering the most important work profitably and on schedule

  • Work in collaboration with AECOMs Americas and Regional Leadership to align operations and allocate resources according to strategic priorities specifically works to align Economics priorities across regions

  • Lead a culture of innovation and collaboration

  • Proactively focuses on talent development, retention, and recruiting

  • Champions change makes the AECOM vision understandable, creates buy-in to the vision by linking day-to-day work to the attainment of the vision, engages and mobilizes others to drive change, reduces organizational ambiguity


This position has responsibility for the Americas with a preferred home base a major metro to include but not limited to top 8-10 Americas Cities


An attractive compensation package commensurate with the significant responsibility and importance of this position will be offered to the successful candidate.

This position does not include sponsorship for United States Work Authorization

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Economics or related field

  • Minimum 12 years' experience including 4 years of leadership

  • Acted as principal-in-charge of a large/multi-disciplined project /consultant team

  • Successfully delivered projects within the clients budget / schedule requirements

  • Successfully delivered project scope and fee, delivering targeted profit to the firm interfaced with project managers on schedules, project review meetings, issues management and client expectations

  • An ability to travel and/or work remotely with teams across multiple regions of the Americas

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Economics or related field

  • Certification or relevant credentialing

  • Deep knowledge of the marketplace with national and global reach, key clients, and industry trends is paramount

  • Experience and skill in strategic business development, client relationships and driving sales and revenue
