Algorithmic Trading Risk Manager

Working as a part of the Global Low Touch e-Trading Activity (LTA) team, the role would entail real-time monitoring of all algorithmic trading activities by Citis traders and clients in NAM for signs of disorderly trading and limit breaches as well as working with business, Compliance and Risk (and in particular Model Risk Management) to implement strategic control enhancement projects.

The role, therefore, has a critical part to play in ensuring best business practice (e.g. transferring some experience in EMEA based on MIFID II compliance) given the focus of several regulatory bodies that scrutinise our control framework around LTA.

Responsibilities:

  • Real-time monitoring of all algorithmic trading activities by Citis traders and clients in NAM for signs of disorderly trading, limit breaches etc.
  • Work with the Desk heads, Compliance and Risk functions to determine appropriate pre-trade limits, changing and periodic review of these limits
  • Analyse and review historical traded data to estimate values at which pre-trade and post-trade controls are set
  • Assess desk procedures and workflow (i.e. list of systems used, change & approval processes for pre-trade and post trade limits, documentation)
  • Review kill switch activation procedures and escalation protocols
  • Significant input into LTA governance framework including maintenance of LTA strategy and application inventory, new strategy and application approval, maintenance of LTA related documents, challenge at governance forums
  • Periodic review of LTA strategy code for any misconduct
  • Annual self-assessment of LTA key controls
  • Assist the business to comply with the new BAU requirements from 2LOD (e.g. LTA ongoing documentation and model validation requirements, model identification, material change)

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Excellent process and task management skills.
  • Experience of working with colleagues from different businesses, regions and support functions
  • Strong technical background with developer (JAVA, Python) and/or model validation/quant experience preferred
  • Strong financial skills, analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Track record of project management
  • Knowledge of model validation frameworks is desired
  • Knowledge of eTrading regulatory landscape is desired

Skills:

  • Ability to review code
  • Use of spreadsheet and other tools for data analysis
  • Strong communication skills
  • Tenacious hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent task management skills and capable of keeping many different moving parts in view at once.
  • Ability to identify and manage dependencies across large parts of the front office and control functions.

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably in technology, Internal Audit or quantitative role
