Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Aircraft Worker, under journeyman supervision, shall assist in disassembly, repair, rework and installation of various systems and components such as wings, control surfaces, control systems, landing gear, arresting gear, fuel cells, instrumentation, ejection seats and engines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Aircraft Worker

  • Assist with installing hydraulic tubing, actuating cylinders and cable controls.
  • Assist in rigging, adjustment and tests on various flight systems including landing gear, flight controls, instruments, oxygen/ environmental systems and power plants.
  • Assist in the installation of fuel system components to include self-sealing fuel cells.
  • Assist with the preservation or de-preservation of aircraft or aircraft components.
  • May be required to take hydraulic or fuel contamination samples, perform corrosion control treatment, including chemical or mechanical removal of corrosion deposits, Form-in Place (FIP) seal removal and a variety of general labor tasks relating to aircraft or aircraft systems maintenance.

Aircraft Sandblaster Worker

  • Remove paint, scale, rust, corrosion and other surface imperfections from iron, steel, aluminum and other metals and non-metal surfaces.
  • Examine and evaluate surfaces to identify the composition of metal and determine the proper method of treating and types of material to be used.
  • Be able to follow oral and written instructions, read and interpret blue prints and all technical data determining extent of cleaning required and various techniques used to arrive at the finished product.

Aircraft Rubber Equipment Repairer

  • Perform repair(s) on aircraft components such as fuel cell, propeller blade, life raft, seat pan and other rubber or rubberized equipment parts.
  • Set up and operate all types of conventional machinery and related equipment in the rubber shop.
  • Disassemble, modify, repair and reassemble complex aircraft components and perform work based on work orders, blueprints, specifications and plan and lay out the work.
  • Examine, install and repair all type of propeller deicers and manufacturer parts from rubber, cork and other assorted gasket materials.
  • Use ovens, other heat controlling devices, and vacuum pumps.
  • Work with hazardous chemicals such as decon, epon, epoxy cements, resins, accelerators and manufacture close tolerance templates, gaskets and seals.

Aircraft Engine Worker

  • Determines if disassembled parts are reusable, recognizing scratches, burns, deformation, etc.
  • Occasionally performs the full range of engine assembly under the direction of an aircraft engine mechanic.
  • Shall have the ability to use measurement instruments such as electronic balance scales, continuity checkers, go-no-go gauges, squares, rulers and vernier calipers to check disassembled parts for defects in order to route defective parts to repair or salvage.

Aircraft Electroplater Worker

  • Perform routine types of electroplating processes including but not limited to, chrome, silver, copper, nickel, electrolysis nickel, cadmium, zinc nickel, IVD, anodizing, brush plating, alodine, black oxide, phosphate, magnesium treatment, chemical milling, allied pre-plate and stress relief processes that are associated with an aircraft repair facility.
  • Use blueprints, manuals, sketches and local directives to select proper stripping, surface preparation and plating process for each part.
  • Based on standardized processing procedures, calculate voltage, amperage and plating time.
  • Select the proper masking material and procedures for each part.
  • Place parts in containers and racks or secure them to wires in such a way as to ensure that each area of the items will receive correct amperes for satisfactory plating.
  • Operate corrosion control, pickling, rust removal solutions.
  • Use routine cleaning and activation processes to facilitate welding and soldering repairs.
  • Assist higher level workers in calculating formulas, voltage and ampere settings and plating time.
  • Operate heating equipment for embrittlement relief.
Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance
  • Must have the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment background and drug screen.

Aircraft Worker

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience as an aircraft worker.

Aircraft Sandblaster Worker

  • Must have at least one year experience as a Sandblaster Worker.
  • Prefer at least one year of documented experience in Aerospace and/or Aircraft procedures and processes.
  • Prefer working knowledge of technical publications.

Aircraft Rubber Equipment Repairer

  • Must have at least a year of experience as a Rubberworker.
  • Prefer a current license to operate a portable man lift.

Aircraft Engine Worker

  • Prefer at least one year of experience as an Aircraft Engine Worker.

Aircraft Electroplater Worker

  • Must be aware of and able to follow applicable American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM standardized processes.
  • Must be able to identify critical safety items per customer requirements.
