*Summary*
Interviewing patients for medical, follow-up on pending accounts, admitting and discharge patients.
Our department is I/P and O/P Admitting/Discharging, benefit checks and a staff of 14 team members. Our department helps self-pay patients apply for Medi-Cal and Low Income Health insurance. We work close with Intake, UR, and all other units.
As the largest behavioral health care provider in San Diego with 149 beds, Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital provides a full range of programs to people of all ages including children, adolescents, adults and seniors challenged by depression, substance abuse or serious mental illness. The hospitals robust Clinical Research Program has conducted more than 250 clinical trials of investigational medications since its inception in 1963, providing new options and hope for people with mental illness.
Sharp Mesa Vista provides inpatient care and offer outpatient programs throughout the community.
*Location*
This position is located in Serra Mesa, San Diego County
*Hours*
Varies:7 Days a week admitting operation for mental health hospital. includes 12 employees covering business hours 6am-11:30pm.
*Required Skills and Qualifications*
* At least 2 years experience in the Business Services setting with demonstrated above-standard performance in billing, account follow-up,and at least one other area of expertise.
* Working knowledge of medical insurances, billing and collections guidelines/criteria.
* Local, State, and Federal regulations governing registration/billing activities including JCAHO, Title XXII, Medicare and Medi-Cal regulations
* Medical terminology.
* ICD-9, RVS, and CPT 4 coding.
* Basic computer functions and utilization management.
* Accurately type or on-line key 35-40 wpm.
* Organize and prioritize work activities.
* Communicate/discuss personal and financial matters with patients and/or their representatives.
* Document effectively and concisely.
* Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
* Function well in demanding/stressful environments.
*Preferred Skills and Qualifications*
* Bilingual (English/Spanish)
* High school graduate or equivalent
*Physical requirements of position may be discussed during interview.*
