The Clinical Education Coordinator (CEC) is a member of the Trauma and Surgical Critical Care team who works to provide education to hospital staff and management as well as pre-hospital organizations to develop strong working relationships and create a positive outcome for patients and the community.In conjunction with the Trauma Program Medical Director (TPMD), the CEC will develop, implement, manage, monitor, and evaluate the following Trauma & Surgical Critical Care Educational Program courses: Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), FAST, ATOM, ASSET, FCCS, Ultrasound Course, Trauma Symposiums and all new educational initiatives. In collaboration with the Trauma Program Coordinator (TPC) and TPMD, the CEC will have management responsibility over applicable instructors and complete instructor evaluations. The CEC will maintain, implement, and communicate all course and conference guideline changes in accordance with the American College of Surgeons, Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF), Society of Trauma Nurses, Penn Continuing Medical Education Office, and all other accrediting bodies by the required timeframes.The CEC will develop a formal Trauma / EMS outreach program for trauma and surgical critical care and PennSTAR Flight. The CEC will coordinate division educational conferences such as Multidisciplinary, Acute Care Surgery, and Critical Care and annual national conferences as requested. The CEC will maintain the CME physician and nurse database and provide reports to the Trauma Program Coordinator, PTSF, and Trauma Council upon request. Coordination of local marketing and educational opportunities between pre-hospital community and general community will be managed by the CEC.The CEC will recruit and train course instructors when applicable and assure credentials are current. All course financial transactions, maintenance of the education program budget, and preparation of monthly reports for submission to the Financial Administrator will be completed by the CEC. Participation in appropriate hospital, divisional, local, state, and national meetings is required. The ability to utilize software programs such as RedCAP, Excel, Access and other necessary programs is essential.

• Active Pennsylvania RN License Required.\n• BSN required.\n• EMT or life support education experience preferred.\n• Current instructor status in one discipline desired.\n• 3 or more years experience working in a healthcare/education environment required.\n• Prior experience with coordinating and teaching health related educational programs preferred.\n• Strong communication and customer service skills required.\n• Proficient experience working with equipment such as personal computers, telephones, fax machines, and copiers required.\n• Familiarity with equipment necessary for the complete function of the courses sponsored by the Division of Trauma & Surgical Critical Care Clinical Education Program required.\n• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Access databases is required.
