The Senior Improvement Advisor is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating the quality, patient safety, and operational performance program of service lines and departments. The Senior Improvement Advisor serves as a change-agent for entity-wide service lines and departments, and supports teams connected to those areas. The Senior Improvement Advisor provides partners with the most current PI methods and tools, including project management support.The Senior Improvement Advisor mentors and coaches local team Improvement Advisors, providing support and experience for local process improvement when needed. This work includes, but is not limited to, facilitation of PI projects and kaizen events; management and surveillance of data for PI opportunities; messaging trends in the data to leadership, departments and staff; training and mentorship to entry-level Improvement Advisors; education of front line staff in the latest PI methods; and responding to serious safety events. This position is accountable for facilitating improvement in the areas of patient satisfaction, clinical quality, and patient safety, operations, and continuous survey readiness.The Improvement Advisor actively participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the quality, patient safety, and operational performance improvement program. The Improvement Advisor serves as a change agent for PI/Quality teams, departments, or other projects as assigned. The Improvement Advisor provides teams with the most current PI methods and tools, including project management support. This works includes, but is not limited to, facilitation of PI projects and workshops, management and surveillance of data for PI opportunities, messaging trends in the data to departments and staff, education of the staff in the latest PI methods, and responding to serious safety events. The Improvement Advisor is accountable for facilitating improvement in the areas of patient satisfaction, clinical quality and patient safety, operations and continuous survey readiness. The Improvement Advisor has these key areas of responsibility: ¢ Facilitate improvement in patient satisfaction, patient safety, clinical quality, and operations.¢ Providing teams with various PI tools, methods, and approaches.¢ Seeks opportunities for continuous survey readiness.¢ Facilitates projects and workshops to support teams.¢ Effective as a change-agent to local UBCL/PBCL teams.

Senior Improvement Advisor \n\nRequired Education & Experience \n• Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred, in medicine, nursing, patient safety and quality, other healthcare related field, business or health policy. \n• At least 3 years of professional experience in planning, implementation, and evaluation of a performance improvement plan is required, preferably in a health care field.\n• Process Improvement Experience Required: Six Sigma Black Belt/Lean Certification/IHI Improvement Advisor training [e.g. Six Sigma PDSA (Plan Do Check Act) or PDCA (Plan Do Study Act)] or equivalent experience (e.g. leading or facilitating projects as SME in improvement methodology).\n\nPreferred Experience \n• Clinical Experience: Candidates will be considered if there is commensurate work experience in healthcare performance improvement (e.g. healthcare quality, patient safety, or consulting within organizations that provide clinical treatment or preventative care services).\n• Quality & Safety Standards in Healthcare: Knowledge of national standards and outcomes for quality,\n• safety and healthcare such as CMS Core Measures & Value Based Purchasing, AHRQ PSI’s, Leapfrog, US News and World Report rankings is preferred; experience preferred, but classroom learning or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), etc. accepted. Root cause analysis experience is desired.\n\nLicenses, Registrations, and Certifications \n• If applicant holds a medical license, (e.g. RN) proof of licensure is required.\n• Lean Silver or Gold certification, CPPS, PMP, SSGB and/or SSBB is preferred. \n\nRequired Skills and Abilities \n• Initiative, judgment, creativity and leadership abilities\n• Change management skills and the ability to network and influence\n• Consultative, team building, and group facilitative skills\n• Teaching skills and curriculum development skills\n• Strategic/hoshin planning skills\n• Project management and organizational skills\n• Accurate, thorough data collection and analysis\n• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing\n• Ability to understand, use, and teach principles of continuous quality improvement while working with varying\n• levels of professional, clinical and ancillary staff\n• Ability to work both under supervision and when appropriate, take initiative to make independent action\n• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Word, PowerPoint, Project)\n• Proficiency with statistical software packages, like Minitab, QI Macros, etc\n• Proficiency with flowchart/workflow presentation software, such as Visio, QI Macros, or similar\n• Familiarity with business process metric/enterprise architecture/process simulation software\n\nImprovement Advisor \n\nRequired Education & Experience \n• A Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s Degree is preferred. Clinical experience is preferred, though candidates with non-clinical degrees, such as MBA, MHA, MPH, MS will be considered if there is commensurate work experience in healthcare performance improvement.\n• Six Sigma Green Belt/Lean Certificate/IHI Improvement Advisor or equivalent experience required.\n• Applicants must have knowledge and experience in quality improvement models, especially Lean/Six Sigma, the IHI model for Improvement, or Human Factors Engineering. Knowledge of National Standards and outcomes for quality, safety, and healthcare- such as CMS Core Measures and Value Based Purchasing, AHRQ PSIs, Leapfrog, US News and World Report rankings is preferred.
