In partnership with LeClairRyan, we are excited to announce that we are currently seeking a O365 Systems Engineer in our Richmond, Virginia office who will contribute to overall success and help secure the bright future of our organization.


Established in August 2015, the Administrative Operations office acts as a hub to provide administrative support to LeClairRyan offices nationwide. The office is home to approximately 65 employees from the Firms Human Resources, Accounting and Finance, Marketing,  Information Technology and Conflicts Resolution and Client Intake departments. With a team focused, collaborative work environment, the Administrative Operations office is an illustration of LeClairRyans dedication to innovation within the legal community.


LeClairRyans Information Technology team consists of approximately 20 professional staff who provide onsite and remote support to LeClairRyan employees nationwide. As LeClairRyan has expanded, the team has focused on development, improvement, and implementation of the Firms technological resources. With LeClairRyans dedication to innovation, our Information Technology department will continue to be a vital part of our continued success.


The O365 Systems Engineer is responsible for providing hands-on operational engineering and support for the clients cloud technology environment. The position assists in the design and testing of functionality to ensure the stability and integrity of systems. Troubleshoots and analyzes failures to minimize outages and service interruptions relating to the all AZURE / O365 services. The position will be responsible for administrating, maintaining, and deploying various services, O365-based business solutions as well as establishing standards, processes, configuration guidelines and training to other IT support staff in support of service management standards.


  • Performs to, and is aware of AZURE/ O365 best practices for providing solutions for the Firm - both technical and non-technical
  • Works closely with IT team to develop, deploy and maintain proper change management standards for release and deployment methodologies and reporting practices
  • Responsible for administrative maintenance on the AZURE / O365 tenant services to ensure optimal service response times and proper license and rights allocations
  • Works with various IT teams to support related initiatives supporting hybrid environment
  • Acts in collaboration with the IT team as a technical escalation resource when necessary
  • Identifies Reason For Outage (RFO) with supporting vendors and produces clear and concise documentation.
  • Follows the Release and Deployment methodology, product testing and integration testing as needed
  • Identifies and reports AZURE/O365 security risks to management recommending remediation strategies
  • Proactively develops and promotes standard operations documentation such as procedures, checklists, and instructions
  • Ensures systems adherence and compliance with IT security standards and practices
  • Extensive understanding of AZURE/O365 capacity planning and services architecture to ensure accurate and immediate 2nd and 3rd level administrative support
  • Analyzes designs, and implements new technologies for applications within the clients AZURE/O365 environment
  • Provides accurate and relevant budgeting documentation such as quotes, purchase orders, analysis, proposals, etc.
  • Adheres to established project methodology and tasks
  • Performs root cause analysis and repair of technical issues and trends to include assisting team members as needed
  • Develops and communicates standards
  • Educates, and provides support to other team members on newly released offerings and/or services, technologies and processes
  • Maybe required to participate in on-call rotation performing after hours support as required
  • Adheres to Microsoft process reading tracking and reporting on Microsoft Premier tickets as needed. Responsible for identifying and raising awareness of any credit eligible service outages per the Microsoft Services agreements
  • Responsible for communicating to others, best practices, procedures, and concepts
  • Can effectively manage the tasks responsible for multiple projects and report status & task timings
  • Delivers solutions through building consensus in both business and technical perspectives
  • Adheres to the Least Privilege Access agreement
  • Abides by all Information Security Policies and Project Management Office standards.
Required Skills


  • Strong working, hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Intune/SCCM and AZURE/O365 core elements: Active Directory, Federation Services, DNS, High Availability and Disaster Recovery Configurations, Mail Flow and Connectors, MS Exchange, Outlook client configuration, PowerShell, SMTP, SSL/TLS
  • Has a solid understanding of ITIL Change & Release and Deployment processes as well as various service and application delivery methodologies
  • Proven hands-on technical skills to support the organization in recommending technology, making purchasing decisions and mentoring other team members.
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally clearly and concisely both in written and oral form and promotes concepts to a broad-base of constituents
  • Proven ability to manage own schedule and work independently with limited supervision
  • Motivated and committed to excellence
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills and flexibility to manage multiple business priorities
  • Conveys and acknowledging differences of opinion in a positive and respectful manner
  • Extensive and proven hands-on experience and skill in the use of PowerShell to report on and manage O365 services


 Technical Skills

  • Expert skills in AZURE, Office 365 (Identity, Intune, Authentication, Administration,
  • Implementation, Exchange, Skype)
  • 3+ years of experience with Exchange Server and Office 365
  • 4+ years of PowerShell use in Production environment
  • 4+ years of SharePoint/O365 administrator experience
  • 2+ years of Azure and Process Automation
  • Prior experience with Microsoft tools (SCCM/Intune)
  • Prior experience with PowerBI, Tableau or similar reporting tools
