
A double-edged sword, feedback can be viewed in both positive and negative ways if you don't know how to properly receive it. But overall, feedback should be used as a positive resource, something that can advance one's career.
"Feedback should be viewed as something positive to help further your professional development," says Harold Belle, director of career planning and development at Spelman College. "And in some cases (it can advance) your personal development. But in a global society, things are not so cut-and-dried. Imagine having to handle feedback from a manager in a different country with different values and cultural nuances.
