Technical Manager - Performance Insights & Business Intelligence

The Performance Insights team provides analytic solutions and services that enable employees to make better-informed and timely business and strategic decisions. The capabilities, reports, and analysis provided by the team serves as the core data, reporting, and analytic platform for the Global Technology Organization (GTO) of MetLife.

The Performance Insights Technical Manager is responsible for the development, management, and operation of the Global Technology Services (GTS) data warehouse platform and overall high-quality performance insights management program. The role will apply leadership, business acumen, and technical knowledge with proven communication, partnership, and problem-solving skills to ensure the Performance Insights team is delivering the capabilities to achieve the highest levels of data, insights, and analytics to the organization.

**Key Responsibilities:**

+ Direct the development of all analytics, reporting, dashboards, and any other information assets that are deployed to GTS and its Partners.

+ Manages team of BI analysts and data warehouse developers. Responsible for team development capability assessments to support team and department goals.

+ Develop one source of truth with no debate on the accuracy or definition (once definition is finalized) of a given data element

+ Own all data definitions within Global Technology which are based upon business/partner needs, but arbitrated and determined by BI

+ Maintain strong controls such that definitions can only be changed after a rigorous review process. Define and document a governance process that encompasses all of BI

+ Develop a change management process that facilitates the ability for business leaders to propose and debate new metrics or metric modifications to identify if a change should be made to the data dictionary

+ Create standard analytics and attribution methodology across Global Technology

+ Centralize existing BI analysts who are focused on defining data requirements, managing governance, and creating BI reports for use by business leaders throughout the organization with the goal of creating one central team focused on managing these key activities

+ Establish succinct, well-defined, traceable business metrics and reporting that are used to measure/manage the business to drive performance

+ Responsible for leading, coaching and developing a high-performing team of professionals

**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**


+ BA/BS required with major in Business/Computer Science/IT or related field preferred

+ 5+ years of experience with implementing Business Intelligence solutions supporting end-user requirements.

+ Proven people and project leadership abilities; who has the ability to work across the organization with a strong data/analytical orientation

+ Track record of successfully driving change and delivering results in ambiguous environments

+ Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, global environment with multiple priorities that require strong project management and decision-making capabilities

+ Ability to establish mutually productive and positive relationships with internal and external groups

+ Resourceful and creative must bring fresh out-of-the-box insights to a dynamic environment and a wiliness to challenge the status quo

+ Strong critical thinking skills with ability to frame business issues and apply data analysis to support real-time decision-making

+ Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts (relational, normalized and dimensional)

+ Understanding of data integration issues (including validation and cleaning), familiarity with complex data and structures

+ Success motivating and influencing partners and stakeholders, both internal and external

+ Ability to lead initiatives. Self-starter, team player with excellent organizational and time management skills and must be able to work with minimal direction.

+ Excellent communications skills. Should have strong collaborative, analytical, written/verbal communication (specifically technical writing) skills and well versed with MS Office suite of products


+ Experience with advanced Excel functions and BI tools such as COGNOS, Qlik, Microsoft, Tableau

+ Experience with Agile (SAFe 4.0)
