**Job Description:**







**Position Overview**

If you answered yes to these

questions, perhaps you are ready to grow as a systems engineer within the

Molecular diagnostics (MDX) business of Siemens Healthineers.







Supports

development of IVD Molecular Diagnostics OEM instrument systems with integrated

sample preparation and real-time PCR instrumentation.







As a member of

a Project Team, independently contributes and also supports team members.







Reports to the

Project Team Manager or Sr. Manager for Systems Engineering within the

Specialized PLM business unit of ~20 members.







**Responsibilities**







Contribute to

development projects on the Hamilton Starlet where parameters for different

sample types and reagent types are needed to be developed.







Contribute to

development projects on the QuantStudio5s Dx real time PCR instrument.







Participate in

identifying and troubleshooting problems arising from process, consumable

plastic, reagent, or equipment.







Contribute to

Software projects as a Systems Engineering tester







Assist in

development of assay parameters (Test definitions) for use on the real time PCR

instrument.







Participate in

Design Control activities: IQ/OQ, Verification and Validations, testing and

documentation.







Work

collaboratively in a cross-functional team of Systems Engineers, biochemists,

and software developers.







May assist

Marketing demo activities with instrument repair, set up, and shipment.







May travel

occasionally







**Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**







Bachelors

Degree in mechanical engineering/bio-engineering with 5-7 years industry

experience.







Recent

experience running the entire workflow of a molecular workflow: from nucleic

acid extraction to PCR and analysis is highly desirable.







Experience

being an engineer on cross-functional development projects, especially in

developing Liquid Handling instrument workflows.







Experience

troubleshooting problems on Liquid Handling instrumentation and real time PCR

instruments. Candidate should understand

the underlying physical principles of operation and how various components can

affect results. The candidate should possess curiosity and drive to explore

system response and take initiative to explore system behavior.







Experience performing

data analysis.







Experience in

authoring and editing supporting documentation for Verification and Validation

activities: such as protocols and reports.







Strong scientific,

communication and organizational skills







Must be

comfortable with handling bio-hazardous

materials.







Qualified

**PreferredKnowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**







Knowledge of

Hamilton Vector software versions3.2 and/or 4.4







Experience in

a GMP / ISO 13485 environment.







JMP or other

statistical data analysis tools







Working

knowledge of IT systems and connectivity







Experience with

Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS/LIS)
