Sr. Software Engineer (Mobile App Development)

The Senior Software Development Engineer will lead the design of new software products and refactor existing software subsystems.  Will work with analysts to design and implement modern graphical user interfaces for medical devices.

Major Ongoing Responsibilities:

  • Leads the design of new software products; refactors existing software subsystems
  • Implements new software functionality and enhancement requests; maintains existing software products
  • Actively participates in software architecture activities
  • Troubleshoots and fixes software defects
  • Evaluates software requirements
  • Assists/supports software system verification
  • Develops, executes and documents unit and integration test cases
  • Reviews software development deliverables, including code and documentation
  • Holds and participates in software inspections
  • Maintains software deliverables within the change management system
  • Works with analysts to design and implement modern graphical user interfaces for medical devices
  • Participates in quality and process improvement initiatives. Leverages and practices software development industry best practices
  • Contributes to the issuance of patents for inventions
  • Work is performed under specific direction with minimum supervision. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.


    • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
    • Minimum 6 years experience in software development preferably in the medical device industry
    • Experience in formal software development methodologies. Familiarity with modern development life cycle models.
    • Experience developing software on mobile platforms including iOS and Android.
    • Expert knowledge of the Windows .NET framework and the C# programming language
    • Experience in object-oriented analysis, design and implementation
    • Experience developing software that includes relational databases, networking, and communication protocols
    • Experience with multi-threaded concurrency issues, failure mode analysis, and performance optimization
    • Knowledge of standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.), regulations (CFR 21, etc.), guidances, and best practices applicable to software engineering and medical devices
    • Knowledge of software design patterns and standard modeling languages such as UML.
    • Expertise with automated testing, debuggers, and emulators
    • Understanding of fundamental electronics principles
    • Familiarity with test and lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, etc.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
