Responsible for implementing and maintaining effectiveness of the quality system.

Designs and conducts experiments, accomplishes established milestones and summarizes data, interprets, results and draws conclusions.

Evaluates data using analytical methodologies to achieve results.

Recommends options for future experiments.

Presents scientific observations to others.

Trains lower-level scientists.

Expertise and Problem Solving: Identifies technical alternatives.

Utilizes multiple analytical instruments.

Anticipates, recognizes and resolves technical problems.

Project Planning: Participates in project planning, updates and process improvements.

Implements project plans comprehending resource, budget, facility and regulatory requirements.

Translates top-level goals to specific project level goals for individual team member.

Establishes and reviews complex plans for multiple projects or activities.

Plans resource allocation and distribution.

Scientific Leadership: Submits ideas for inventions; publishes; innovates through patent filings and/or scientific publications.

Perform FTO's (Freedom to Operate). Economic Profitability: Provide direction to project team to meet economic profitability (EP) profile for the project (product cost analysis).

Lab Safety: Participates in lab safety.

Documentation: Appropriately documents experimental procedures and results according to established guidelines.

Accountability/Scope

Across functional areas/programs within division. Contributes to project plan. Responsible for project completion.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. plus 2 years of research or industrial experience or B.S./M.S. with equivalency*. *Equivalency to Ph.D. defines as ability to hypothesize, design own experiments, draw conclusions and provide direction.   Basic Computer Skills. Advanced Knowledge of multiple analytical instruments.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. plus 2 years of research or industrial experience required. Ability to manage successfully within a complex and highly matrixed project structure preferred. Contributes to project plan and execution. Accountable for results and project/milestone completion.

Candidate should have experience with molecular biology techniques such as nucleotide sequencing, deep sequencing, PCR testing (including identification of primers, PCR conditions) and computer based skills for genomic analysis/characterization.
