**Description**
Position Overview:
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible to lead electrical design activities implementing innovative and cost effective product solutions in order to support the organization from prototype development through full-scale production. In this role, (s)he provides the design and engineering support for all Kerr electro-mechanical products, to ensure smooth project execution in accordance with design controls.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible to evaluate and develop electrical and electronic systems specifications, products, components and applications
This position will lead important tasks and projects in new product development (NPD) including concept and prototype development, design, verification and validation, process development, transfer to manufacturing, and support thereafter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Lead all activities related to products and processes development during project phases in accordance with design controls, with senior engineering staff guidance
* Lead or participate in engineering design through all phases of new product development (NPD); including feasibility, prototype development, design input, verification and validation, process development and product design transfer to manufacturing
* Evaluate current product performance shortcomings with respect to function, reliability, and usability.
* Design and develop products in accordance with applicable standards for both medical and electronic devices
* Define new electrical product architecture, analyze performances and provide feasibility studies,
* Support and actively participate in review phases during product development, Risk analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA.
* Execute studies, perform calculations and engineering analyses, create drawings and graphical representations necessary to define the new concepts developed.
* Interface with Marketing/Sales and end users to understand customer requirements and critical product features. Gather, develop and document medical product specifications; identify competitive products/procedures; assist with product positioning decisions.
* Support and guide RA & QA with regulatory submissions.
* Support the development of departmental strategic direction, business processes and project execution strategies.
* Assess external technology and remain current with new development and industry trends, including ongoing investigation and evaluation of related research, products, and technology licensing opportunities. Research and obtain intelligence on competitors’ products and processes.
* Identify, procure and develop equipment needed to test developed products.
* Develop and execute engineering tests/simulations and prepare test protocols and reports.
* Identify and collaborate with external laboratories to perform testing
* Reviews and guides the resolution of technical issues as needed and ensures that technical work meets requirements and specifications.
* Assures engineering activities including documentation proceed per requirements of Standard Operating Procedures.
* Manage all project activities to ensure on target, on time launch of new products in accordance with defined project plans
* Support R&D team in order to sustain existing products through change control, EOL projects (e.g. component discontinuation and replacement), PPV (purchase price variances), VAVE (value analysis, value engineering), CAPA (corrective actions, preventive actions).
* Provide guidance to and mentor junior mechanical engineering staff.


**Qualification**
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering Design.
* Prior experience developing electromechanical medical devices.

The Candidate Should Possess:
* Experience in engineering of electromechanical products.
* Experience in design of medical devices.
* Technical skill in planning and execution of product verification and validation and process validations and product/process transfer to manufacturing and production.
* Experience in design for Quality and lean Manufacturing.
* Experience developing products with significant human factors considerations.
* Capable of designing integrated circuits and knowledgeable of PC board layout design and fabrication processes.
* Knowledge of emerging technology related electrical hardware.
* Advanced knowledge of regulatory guidelines on safety, biocompatibility, shipping and usability testing.
* Understanding of IEC 60601-1 standards.
* FPGA design and verification experience.
* EMI and EMC experience.
* Experience in developing FMEA documents and performing root cause analysis.
* 3D CAD modeling, experience with SolidWorks is a plus.
* Experience working in a multicultural/multinational business environment.

* Ability to communicate effectively across the enterprise, as well as various groups such as Regulatory, QA/QC, Supply Chain, internal customers (Marketing, Customer Service, Sales) and external suppliers.

* Willing to travel abroad for small periods of time.
