**Job Description:**







This position will be responsible for providing functional engineering leadership at our Issaquah, WA location and at our Mountain View, CA location. Will direct the activities of a hardware and systems engineering department relating to the design, development and release of medical diagnostic ultrasound products, with concurrent development being conducted in the USA, Europe and Asia. As director of this development group, responsibilities extend to on-going refinement of development processes, including continuous enhancement of process metrics. Position reports to the Vice President of PLM.



Responsible for high end system engineering (requirements, architecture, system integration)



Responsible for development of hardware for high end systems



Responsible for usability engineering for high end systems



Responsible for electronics development for transducers and catheters







Engineering leadership: Provide leadership for engineering and represent engineering within BU US.







Active role in senior management and cross functional management teams to drive business goals.



Ensures that all direct reports, managers and engineers, understand Siemens, BU US, and Engineering missions and objectives--and the relationship of overall goals to their positions and roles.



Maintains contact and working relationships with relevant Siemens locations and vendors worldwide.



Interfaces with clinical, marketing and external partners (doctors, health care providers, luminaries) to describe the strategic vision and product roadmap for their departments



Describes the future path, growth and development of their department ( workflow, processes, changes in technology)







Functional management of engineering departmental projects and tasks: Oversee projects and tasks within the department.







Leads large/complex engineering projects--planning, working with engineering managers: monitoring checkpoints, milestones, and deliverables.



Determines resource allocation, prioritization, and distribution of work.



Schedules work, projects, and teams within the department.



Develops, monitors, and reports on budgets.



Provides management and technical guidance as appropriate to engineering managers and engineers.



Organizational development: Do we have the right resources, personnel and structure in place to meet the current and future business needs.



Drives the continuous improvement of the development processes and tools







Personnel development: Hire and develop direct reports and other engineering personnel.







Recruiting and hiring: Works with HR and hiring managers to recruit candidates for engineering positions, conduct interviews of candidates and participate in selection.



Conducts performance reviews with direct reports to discuss position objectives and performance, and provides direction for development and select or participate in the selection of individuals for promotion.



Provides coaching to direct reports to improve management/engineering competencies and to achieve their professional and career path objectives.



Ensures that direct reports are aware of educational offerings and that they schedule training and other developmental activities as appropriate.
