The Strategic Programs & Business Optimization (SPBO) team is a one-stop shop that partners with MetLife U.S. Business, Operations and supporting areas to solve business problems. SPBO collaborates with stakeholders to define the business opportunity, design end-to-end solutions, and execute the initiative with seamless business integration. Leveraging deep business knowledge and expertise in project management, data analysis, and business process re-engineering, this organization focuses on driving to a lower unit cost structure and streamlining processes. The SPBO team frees up business resources and allows leaders to focus on their core competencies.







**Key Responsibilities:**







+ Drives holistic, strategic solutions in support of our U.S. Business and Operations partners needs by identifying, leading, and implementing large and/or critical cross organizational end to end solutions.



+ Focuses on customer centric, scalable, user friendly solutions to meet customers needs and effectively align with the Strategic Solutions & Governance brand and MetLifes strategies.



+ Works autonomously to lead and manage large/critical initiatives spanning the entire U.S. Business and Operational organizations



+ Develops constructive ideas, influences and negotiates high impact projects or high cost expenditures and manages the execution of them



+ Constructs flow charts to describe business processes and development of precise steps and processing logic across the business architecture design. Ability to ask why questions to identify opportunities to simplify and streamline



+ Adherence to established engagement operation model and execution framework, processes and usage of supporting tools (Project Management tools and guidelines)



+ Builds business cases for enterprise level high impact projects or high cost expenditures



+ Manage and coordinate appropriate business engagement in Program driven initiatives across the project lifecycle



+ Tailor communications and make recommendations to various audiences and levels of seniority, including: the Strategic Solutions & Governance leadership team, U.S. Business Planning Officer, Risk Executive Steering Committee, and Great Ideas for Today (GIFT) leadership team



+ Manages critical relationships with consultants, vendors, internal end users and business customers/leadership



+ Collaborate closely with peers within U.S. Business, Global Technology & Operations, Strategic Solutions & Governance and the broader partnering organizations (IT, Legal, Compliance, and Audit) to manage a holistic approach to Strategy, Intake and Project Execution.



+ Diligently manage resources to keep expenses within prescribed budgetary limits



+ Leads and motivates project team members and provides guidance to lower level staff



+ Support Lead Business Architect & Director of Business Architecture in the overall direction, guidance and definition of the business architecture to effectively support business strategy



+ Performs other related duties as assigned or required.







**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**







+ Bachelors degree and related field experience required.



+ 8-10+ years of experience in business optimization, problem solving, or strategic solutioning roles with progressive responsibility, preferably within the financial services industry.



+ Demonstrated experience optimizing and simplifying complex business processes, technology and change programs across a matrixed organization for a Fortune 50 company.



+ Demonstrated experience in Business Analytics with the ability to assess business needs and provide strategic user friendly solutions with a focus on customer service.



+ Demonstrated experience in Project Management to drive the planning and execution of a business strategy, cross-organizational initiatives, or optimization projects.



+ Strong leader with demonstrated sound business judgment. Able to inspire the trust, confidence and respect of peers and other senior leaders. Develops talent for the future.



+ Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills including oral and written communications, relationship building, collaboration, influencing, negotiation and conflict mediation across a broad range of levels in the organization.



+ Ability to work independently with flexibility and focus in a dynamic environment.



+ Ability to champion change, inspire a shared vision and promote key values.



+ Analytic and strategic thinker capable of translating senior-level direction and corporate risk management policies and procedures into structured, practical, efficient and effective business processes.



+ Able to achieve results in a matrix setting through stewardship, influence, motivation and change leadership.



+ Knowledge of the U.S. Business and Operations organizations, products, services and technology portfolio.



+ Advanced skills in business management tools including: Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio, Project and Access preferred.



+ Experienced with technology portfolio and risk management tools preferred.



+ Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or advanced knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) / MetLife Project Portfolio Management (MPPM) preferred.
