**Job Summary:** The Business Planning and Strategy Consultant will be responsible for supporting a variety of strategic planning, and financial functions supporting MetLifes US Strategic Solutions and Governance department. Responsibilities include supporting the strategic planning and governance processes to drive portfolio and financial management disciplines, with an alignment to the US Business and enterprise strategies. The associate will collect data, analyze and report to multi-levels of executives; plus maintain a community site for reporting, tracking and managing financial documentation.







**Functional Responsibilities:**







This individual will be a key participant in supporting a variety of strategic business planning functions. They will partner with their manager and management to develop metrics, performance measures and reports that support business objectives and results. This role will require a minimal amount of supervision. Reporting to the Director of Expense and Vendor Management, this position will be responsible for the following:







+ Collects financial, demand and resource data and uses management analysis tools to conduct moderately complex analysis such as cost projections, feasibility studies, benchmark comparisons and performance analysis



+ Reviews Strategic Solution & Governance budget and expense functions and prepares financial reports, conducts variance analysis, and/or prepares forecasts. Analyses the results and presents recommendations to management.



+ Develops and refines performance measures as internal benchmarking tools to ensure that process are on track



+ Participates in the creation and operationalization of the US Business strategic business plans



+ Develops staffing plans and models and makes recommendations to management



+ Participates in the management of IT application portfolio financials including the AD and iSLA for the US Business portfolio and prepares ROI analyses as appropriate



+ Develops and implements financial processes and rolls out financial training through various forms of communication.



+ Updates and maintains Strategy, Planning & Governance SharePoint site including storage folder structure, access permissions and layout changes



+ Participate in financial meetings with business and IT partners



+ Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned or required



+ May coordinate complex event planning and related travel arrangements







**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**







Required:







+ Experience (5+ years) in business financial management and business experience in the financial services industry or in insurance industry



+ Strong program management, time management and analytical skills



+ Accomplished team player with business acumen demonstrating sound business judgment and knowledge of the insurance products, processes and technology. Ability to inspire trust, confidence, and respect of peers and management.



+ Hands-on experience implementing cross functional solutions (technical/non- technical)



+ Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills including oral and written communication, relationship building, collaboration, negotiation and conflict resolution across the team and with business partners



+ Proven experience with navigating and excelling within a highly matrixed organization



+ Ability to work independently with flexibility and focus in a dynamic environment

Functional Responsibilities: Oversees assigned unit's budget and expense functions including: development and submission of operational budget; development of monthly expense reports; analysis of budget variances; preparation of financial forecasts; and/or research and implementation of cost savings measures and presentation of recommendations to management. Assists in the development and measurement of business planning activities; facilitates collection and presentation of metrics and expenses; assists in development and refinement of performance measures. Develops and refines internal benchmarks including unit costs; initiates action with management to develop an informational framework to support process analysis and re-engineering activities. Oversees development of staffing plans and analysis. Develops and implements effective communications and information sharing data warehouse using appropriate technologies. May partner with management to manage IT applications portfolio and develop cost benefit and ROI analyses for re-engineering and new technology initiatives. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.







Supervisory Responsibilities: None.







Typical Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience. 8+ yrs. financial services industry or insurance operations experience.
