Sr. Analyst, Reimbursement Operations

The Health Economics & Reimbursement (HE&R) Sr. Analyst of Operations supports key initiatives related to medcial coding, coverage, payment, and driving market access across key medical device therapies for Abbott. The HE&R Sr. Analyst will work with HE&R management to provide supporting research and reimbursement deliverables that assist with customer reimbursement education, dossier development, and economic modeling. Additionally, the position requires a thorough understanding of database relationships and the ability to extract information from databases using complex query statements and advanced database tools.

Job Duties:

  • Works with a team of health economic and reimbursement professionals to develop tools, programs and messages that support and enable the sale and use of Abbott therapy solutions by commercial and Medicare healthcare providers within the US.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with internal Abbott stakeholders including but not limited to, Marketing, Sales Operations, Corporate and National Accounts, and Sales divisions.
  • Participates in assigned cross-departmental meetings and conference calls for the purpose of providing input and guidance regarding market dynamics and issues needing focus, attention and action.
  • Supports Abbott Divisions as it relates to pre/post-launch private payer and Medicare reimbursement issues or requirements, including health economics and cost-effectiveness tools.
  • Analyzes trends relating to current health economics, private payers, Medicare and workers compensation administrators and how they impact the Abbott product portfolio.
  • Oversees development of coding guides, reimbursement apps and educational content to support economic and reimbursement related activities in assigned business segments.
  • Collects, manipulates and analyzes data from multiple data sources to obtain answers to support business processes.
  • Facilitates and/or performs data clean-up activities within the Sales Force database. Utilizes multiple business systems to enter, extract and correct data. Interacts with internal customers, as needed, to understand and review data issues and maintain data integrity.
  • Runs reports, creates summaries of data and distributes information proactively on a regular basis as well as when requested.
  • Assists field HE&R team in the analysis of customer metrics including hospital finance, individual quality measures, and performance data to influence key decision makers within GPOs, Hospital executives / purchasing officers, and health systems during Value Analysis and ad hoc presentations.
  • Assists in developing and regularly updating an “Abbott reimbursement tool box” for use by stakeholders in clinical and economic settings.
  • Maintains communications and checkpoints for marketing and sales activities with manager and Abbott Corporate Legal and Compliance.

    General Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree.
      • Have a minimum of 2 years of medical device and / or pharmaceutical industry.
      • Have advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel Pivot tables, SQL, and R.
      • Have the ability to understand complex and technical information.
      • Have strong project management and prioritization skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, prioritize and meet deadlines in timely manner.
      • Have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
      • Have strong organizational and follow-up skills with attention to detail.
      • Have experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
      • Can travel approximately 20%, including internationally.
