**Job Description:**

**Thermal Systems Engineer Position Overview:**

The primary function of the Thermal Systems Engineer is to establish the thermodynamic design for power generation projects and prepare performance calculations necessary to establish heat balance and process flow diagrams. Design Responsibilities include a wide range of plant configurations including combined cycle, conventional cycle plants as well as work on advanced cycle concepts.


Validate thermal design through occasional testing (in accordance with ASME Performance Test Codes) is among the key responsibilities of the group

Work in close conjunction with all design engineering functions of the Division as well as sales, marketing, outside architectural engineers and project management

Group support includes the generation of Reference Power Plant (RPP) studies and thermal plant designs


+ BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

+ Knowledge of thermodynamics and fundamental power plant theory is required, particularly as relates to Brayton, Rankine, and Combined Cycle thermodynamics

+ Sufficient power plant component knowledge to develop cost benefit analysis to compare differing designs with respect to their impact on plant performance and operability

+ Desire to learn and become proficient with several computer aided thermal modeling codes, statistics, risk management, and process design tools

+ Strong communication at all levels

+ Ability to problem solve

+ Proficiency with MS Excel and VBA programming

**Preferred Skills/Education/Experience**

+ Master's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
