Job Description

Executes multiple high quality, integrated cross functional project plans including
development of project charters, schedules, milestones, budgets, risks, issues and
resources to meet project goals; incorporates technical, resource, operational, and
regulatory requirements into project plans.

Impact this role will have on Abbott:

  • Define the business and financial results expected from a project. Develop
    implementation plans, conduct risk assessments, and develop and implement contingency plan to allow for and accommodate unforeseen events and changes in strategy.
  • Develops appropriately detailed, cross-functional, realistic, and challenging
    timelines that include resource requirements and buffers. Must assure that project will effectively integrate with existing competing project and strategies to that both short and long term business goals are attained.
  • Coordinates the assimilation of disparate information from multiple sources, analyzes for trends, adjusts results and draws inferences.
  • Is the single person responsible and accountable for achieving those results; where results are expressed in terms of compliance with Design Control and/or Change Control policies, quality, time, scope, and cost.
  • Primary point of contact for various strategic projects and interface with functional managers on resource issues and project sponsor on project issues. Leads Management Reviews and project meetings; develops and manages agendas, minutes and follow up action items.
  • Facilitates cross functional communication between R&D, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory, IT, HR, Operations (including Manufacturing, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Supply Chain)
  • Sets interrelated tasks that culminate in clearly defined business results. For new product development projects, the business results will typically include the launch of one or more products.
  • Differences across the levels of Project Manager are dependent upon increasing project management complexity and increasing level of expected independence. Each higher level incorporates the expectations for the lower levels. Manage multiple complex large projects.
  • Increase the efficiency of the organization and reduce time-to-market for the new products/projects through utilization of dynamic planning and what-if scenario analysisacross all projects.
  • Provide an effective tool to the senior management to estimate the resource capacity and load make informed decisions regarding resource capacity adjustments or reallocation. Reduce missing deadlines and improve achieving critical milestones on time and within the expected quality.
  • Accountable for managing finances and resources (direct and matrix) assigned to project regarding project tasks. Include mentoring and providing feedback to team members.

    Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success:

    • Minimum of 8 years in a project leadership role performing project planning and implementation. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is preferred. MBA and experience with healthcare applications is a plus.
    • Must have manufacturing transfer experience.
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills in order to manage work that ensures successful project delivery to internal and external Abbott Customers.
    • Bridging communication between technical areas and business areas for a full and complete understanding of project requirements and project delivery. The candidate must be proactive in issue identification and resolution, and excellent logical, analytical, and problem solving skills.
    • Experience working with international teams is a plus.
