**Job Description:**







Senior Electrical Engineer to contribute to new platform development. Contributions are expected at the individual level. . Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Capable of integrating requirements from the various stakeholders and have demonstrated judgement to balance the needs of cost, quality and time-to-market.







Electrical Engineer who will be a technical hands-on professional experienced with electronics and firmware development in biotech devices.







The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for development and integration of the electrical and firmware subsystems for complex electromechanical biotech devices. The Engineer will be a member of a technical cross functional team and will interface with key partners and external vendors to develop system. The Engineer will support the development of detailed requirements, engineering specifications, verification & validation, and supporting regulatory submissions of these devices.







System integration experience of embedded systems with electronics, firmware, and software







Experience designing and assembling cable harnesses for production robotic systems







Mixed signal EE design experience at the component, PCB, and system level (transimpedance amplifiers, LEDs, PMTs, Lasers, CMOS sensors , current drivers, embedded RT control)







Select EE components, create schematics & PCB layout, and build prototypes







Hands on lab experience for assembly (soldering, crimping), data analysis, and debugging (scopes, schematic errors)







Familiarity with major and local component and service vendors (Digikey, Newark, Mouser,...)







Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM)







Experience in multilayers mixed signal PCB designs and EMI mitigation







FPGA/CPLD implementation and algorithm review experience is a nice to have







Hardware (electronic circuit) design experience required (biotech preferred).







Must be familiar with board design, architecture, layout, EMC, microcontroller, and other component selection (LED, voltage regulator, etc.)







Develop designs for electrical subsystems for electrical components.







Confer with other team members to prepare and document designs, modifications, and documentation as required (BOMs, schematics, diagrams, models)







Experience with Altium,Mentor Graphics and Visio







This role will include substantial design and laboratory work, identifying prospective components, materials, and processes, designing and building testing equipment, and performing laboratory testing on new technologies.







**Additional Skills Sought**







Experienced in RT-qPCR and sample preparation instrumentation development - through education or experience is highly desired. Experience delivering automated fluorescent microscopes for biological applications is also desired. .







The engineer will support the development of detailed requirements, engineering specifications, verification and validation , and supporting regulatory submissions of these devices.







Experience in development of products in a life sciences or regulated (CE-IVD, FDA) diagnostic environment is highly desirable.







Participate in FMEA, worst case analysis and verification/validation of product/design







Submission to regulatory compliance to UL/CSA/TUV/CE _with_ experience with safety and emissions testing such as IEC61326 and IEC61010, IEC60601, IEC62304 etc.







Classical and modern control theory applied to data acquisition and laboratory system/subsystem control.







Linear and high speed efficient switching power supply design and selection. Familiar with sourcing power supplies, vendor qualification







Communication protocols/technologies such as CANopen and CAN BUS , I2C and SPI







Analog and/or digital control of - temperature, pressure, flow, mass, current, light, force, charge & pH.







Design and develop specialized test fixtures, as needed, to support design and for manufacturing.



Work closely with program managers, scientists, firmware, mechanical and optical engineering teams. Create technical specification and subsystem requirement specification documents.







Transfer of designed products to manufacturing and support any post-launch and service issues. This incudes design and delivery of manufacturing test fixtures and calibration systems.







Desire to join a start-up effort within a major multi-national corporation.







Should be able to draw on first principles to figure out effective solutions.







A degree in engineering or physics and a track record of contributing to successful products.







Ability to understand scientific and systems-level engineering questions and propose and deliver solutions.

Excellent communication skills (written and spoken or most importantly, through demonstration of beautiful designs
