    Dominion Enterprises, a private company headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, has an immediate need for a Senior Accountant for its Corporate Accounting department.  This position will report to the Corporate Accounting Manager.  The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in: the month-end close process including reconciliation/review of select balance sheet accounts and analysis of corporate P&L activity, reporting of home office results, preparation/review of quarterly tax and annual audit requests and special projects as needed.  Dominion Enterprises is a leading marketing services company serving the wide ranging needs of many industries including real estate, specialty vehicles, automotive, franchise and travel.



    • Month-end Close: analysis of monthly activity, booking accruals and adjustments to the G/L.  Ensure that all accounts are adequately accounted for.
    • Review account reconciliations prepared by staff/other home office departments.
    • Preparation of key home office account reconciliations.  Must have the ability to explain all fluctuations from prior periods, ensure appropriateness of G/L coding and address questions from management in terms of significant variances, adjustments needed or potential changes in upcoming months.  Serve as point of contact for interaction with other corporate departments as well as other divisions on these areas.
    • Perform manipulation of large excel data files for month-end close, analysis and annual audit.
    • Creation/analysis of various financial reports utilizing JDE, Tidemark, OLAP and Business Objects.
    • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end analysis for key home office accounts. 
    • Assist with home office financial projections and annual budgets, including corporate assumptions.
    • Develop process improvements to make corporate processes more efficient.
    • Assist with the annual financial audit(s) of the company including detailed preparation of audit schedules, analysis and other requests.
    • Provide reports to the tax department as requested.
    • Perform ad-hoc reporting requirements and financial analysis as needed.
    • Special projects as assigned.



      • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in accounting
      • Minimum of 3-4 years of accounting experience
      • CPA or eligible CPA candidate preferred
      • Strong knowledge of GAAP
      • Strong financial analysis/analytical skills
      • Ability to handle/oversee simultaneous projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines while maintaining an extensive level of accuracy and thorough work product
      • Possess critical thinking skills and an inquisitive nature that results in you asking questions, seeking to understand relationships and find answers
      • Ability to analyze, synthesize and present information in a manner that facilitates decision making
      • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff in the organization
      • High degree of accuracy with attention to detail, solid organizational skills, strong drive and a proven ability to work independently
      • Knowledge of computer accounting applications (JD Edwards and Business Objects experience a plus)
      • Strong Excel skills with the ability to utilize filters, pivot tables, functions (v-lookups) to efficiently manage large data files on a daily basis.
