Summary:



This is a new management position within our Gourmet Division and is located at our processing facility in Bonne Terre, Missouri.  The production facility is undergoing a major transformation from a traditional cannery to a hybrid facility to handle thermally processed foods,  frozen, and refrigerated products.  Products are packed into a variety of packaging formats including cans, pouches, tubs, and glass jars. With the addition of frozen and refrigerated products we have the need for greatly expanded Quality Assurance programs. This position will have an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of new products along with the development and implementation of new processes such as thermo-formed packaging and HPP processing.  The position will be a key member of the Gourmet Division management team collaborating with corporate Product development and marketing departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  



  • QA provides direct oversight of product quality and food safety for the processing facility, including sanitation.

  • Indirect oversight for two co-pack operations.

  • Development and oversight for nutritional labeling of all products produced by the division.

  • Management of Food Safety audits, certifications for Kosher and Organic status as well as any customer or regulatory audits and inspections.

  • Direct Supervision of Bonne Terre QA staff to include the technical department

  • Coordinate and oversee all Process Authorities for all production processes.

  • Work with Product Development (corporate group) and others to assist and support the development of new products.

  • Bench top development and process development.

  • Oversee Process SOP and SSOP development and process authorities.







Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure adequate on-going food processing related training programs for all facilities as well as all QA personnel within the division.





Supervisory Responsibility:



  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting and training direct reports.

  • Is responsible for reviewing performance and administers corrective action.

  • Plans the work schedules, assigns duties, tracks absenteeism and reviews work to ensure quality standards.

  • Responsible for monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance.

  • Observes and practices safety and housekeeping procedures at all times. Attends and/or conducts Safety Meetings.





Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • High level of knowledge with FDA and USDA regulations.

  • High level of knowledge and experience with sanitation practices.

  • Familiarity with FSMA regulations.

  • Familiar with GMPs for a food processing operation.

  • Preferred experience in high risk food processing environments such as dairy or meat processing.





Education and Experience



  • Bachelors degree in Food Science or a related field.

  • Culinary School or similar experience is a plus.

  • At least 5 (five) years experience in a Food Processing management position with 2 years of QA experience within a food processing environment.

  • Food Product development experience is desirable.
