**Job Description:**

**Position Overview**

This role will be responsible for estimating the profitability of an engineered product at the time of quote through the development of functional cost activities within the Siemens configuration tool (COMPAS). The candidate will be asked to review data from multiple sources and implement solutions based on upon conclusions made from the data. Candidate should be able work independently, be proactive in data attainment, and be willing to learn portions of the Siemens Switchgear, Switchboard, Busway and other engineered product lines.

Candidate should have extensive functional, commercial and/or technical knowledge in the area of make-to-order or engineered-to-order business processes. This role is designed for personnel with a strong background in data analysis/analytical thinking with motivation to learn products and tools.


The candidate will serve as a Costing Specialist for Engineered Product Configurators in COMPAS and will have the following responsibilities.

+ Maintain accuracy of functional cost for engineered products in COMPAS to agreed levels.

+ Analyze As-Quoted cost against As-Engineered and As-Built costs every month, and review with Systems segment management.

+ Review cost position of lost opportunities

+ Collaborate with a cross functional team from Prod Dev, Prod Mgmt, Order Engineering, Manufacturing and Accounting to build accurate cost.

+ Analyzes and evaluates cost structures, and builds, maintains and improves the Functional Cost in COMPAS at least once each fiscal year.

+ Interpret and functionally influence policy and guidelines in their area of business / technology.

+ Develop processes and systems to deliver functional objectives.

**Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**

+ Typically BS/BA in related discipline or advanced degree. Certification may be required in some areas.

+ 5 to 8 years work experience in Power Distribution engineered to order business.

+ Proficient with product profit margin analysis (sales revenue vs. cost of sales, variable costs and fixed costs).

+ General understanding of the accuracy of plant product cost criteria (i.e. material, labor, factory overhead, etc).

+ Complete understanding of sales, engineering, logistics and manufacturing processes for complex configurable products in an Engineer To-Order scenario using configurator tools and SAP systems;

**Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**

+ Demonstrate and apply complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in the area of Pricing, Bills of Material, Assembly Routing and Costing for Low Voltage products like Circuit Breakers, Switchboard, Panelboards, etc

+ General understanding of power distribution low voltage products in residential and commercial construction

+ General understanding of configurator tools and their components to manage pricing, multi-level bills of material, routing for complex configurable products;

+ Proficient with VBA in Excel or equivalent; experience with developing utility programs to automate repetitive tasks.

+ Proficient in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to manage pricing and costing updates to configuration tools.

+ Good communication and presentation skills.
