**Job Description:**

**Position Overview:**


development of IVD Molecular Diagnostics systems based on real-time PCR and

integrated sample preparation solutions.


Supports the semi-complex planning of detailed product development objectives.

Provides support in semi-complex review of results to determine that products

perform in the intended manner. Participates in preparing semi-complex

prototypes for testing and provides technical assistance on design feasibility.

Assists in standardizing semi-complex materials, components and

assemblies. Participates in maintaining

detailed and comprehensive records of all inventive ideas, designs, and basic

improvements. Provides support in documenting product issues for future

reference and problem resolution.

Evaluates designs and

proposes revisions to improve manufacturability.

Identify manufacturing issues

(design/process/component) and drive resolution by participating on

cross-functional or project teams.

Research and resolve electro-mechanical,

production assembly and/or test issues in a timely manner.

Define critical processes, develop assembly and

test procedures, train production personnel, and verify effectiveness of

process and training

Design, develop and validate test fixtures to be

used in-house and at vendor sites

Supports cross functional teams in a

collaborative environment

**Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, andExperience:**

**Education:** BS/BA in related

discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of

education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas.

Identify and

troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize down time and

recommend solutions. Candidate should

understand the underlying physical principles of operation and how various

components can affect results. The candidate should possess curiosity and drive

to explore system response and take initiative to explore system behavior and the envelope of system performance.

Experience modifying or creating testing

protocols and experience authoring

supporting documents. Experience with

testing the suitability of a given PCR instrument, reagent, or sample preparation


Comfortable with working with developmental

software, hardware and reagent


Experience with new product introductions and/or product transfers.

**Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, andExperience:**

Degree in engineering, bio-engineering

strongly preferred. Working experience in developing clinical diagnosticsinstrumentation

a plus. Recent experience running the entire workflow of sample preparation ,

PCR and analysis is highly desirable. Experience with development within

regulated environments to support development of IVD based clinical assays and instruments is

highly desirable.
