**Job Description:**

**Procurement Specialist, Specimen Acquisition (SA)**

The Procurement Specialist, Specimen Acquisition (SA) supports the Specimen Acquisition Group in the areas of collaboration, regulatory affairs, finance, and procurement. Specimen acquisition is a key service function within R&D and Clinical Affairs, obtaining high quality samples to meet the needs of their stakeholders while adhering to the numerous legal, ethical and logistical problems associated with these acquisitions. The Procurement Specialist, Specimen Acquisition will report directly to the head of Specimen Acquisition.


The Procurement Specialist, SA supports the team in standard buying strategies to purchase and arrange timely deliveries of supplies and materials. This includes:

+ Expediting, as needed, and serving as liaisonbetween vendors and users, getting prior approval for purchases in excess of established limits.

+ Resolving standard delivery, quality or other relatedproblems with purchases and invoices.

+ Supporting in updating project plans and purchasing systems, reviewing and analyzing requisitions and supply plansfor domestic and international purchases.

+ Supporting in the preparation of requests for quotes and in the development of new supply sources.

**Related tasks include:**

+ Procurement

+ Responsible for receiving, processing, and recording data related to specimen acquisition shipments.

+ Generate quarterly specimen acquisition reports with tables and graphs showing the breakdown of support provided to Assay Development projects, Manufacturing (TECHOPS) activities, and others as requested.

+ Maintain Vendor files in Sharepoint;

+ Reporting to manager the need for supplier re-assessments, IRB expirations, etc.

+ Financial Support

+ Supports the acquisition of Specimen Acquisition Purchase orders as needed.

+ Generate weekly employee reimbursement reports for body fluid donor program.

+ Responsible for the generation of monthly spend reports for Manufacturing, Second Level Support.

+ Responsible for the monthly finance re-class reports for assay development.

+ Effectively identifies financial issues (i.e. invoice issues) as they arise and effectively manages or escalates as appropriate.

+ Regulatory Support

+ Support the revision of Quality Procedures and work instructions related to Specimen Acquisition processes.

+ Conduct quarterly audits of closed Specimen Acquisition request files.

+ Collaboration Support

+ Assist Specimen Acquisition in archiving of Specimen Collaborations (SOW's and related documents) into Contract Archive.

+ Technical Support

+ Provides support for freezer identification, tracking, and monitoring as needed. Provides support for the calibration of equipment as requested.

**Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**

+ Requires four years of college resulting in Bachelors degree or equivalent Required past experience

+ Less than 5% travel

+ Excellent communication skills

+ High attention to detail

+ Significant experience with IT based procurement systems

+ Proficient in MS Office suite (Excel, Word)

**Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**

+ Training in Siemens internal collaboration and compliance requirements

+ Good problem solving skills

+ Ability to build sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
