Principal Systems Engineer (Systems Architect), Diagnostics

The Principal Systems Engineer (Systems Architect) will be responsible for building and maintaining cutting edge technology platforms to grow and maintain system platforms in hematology focusing on flow cytometry, sample preparation, and imaging applications. The candidate will be working with multidisciplinary engineering and scientific groups and willing to work hands-on in developing and executing program deliverables.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system

  • Technical lead for IVD hematology systems on pipeline and sustaining projects, who understands complex electro-mechanical/optical systems, theory of operation details and spends hands-on time in the lab to support high-impact project issues
  • Impeccable technical skills with strong background in flow cytometry and systems engineering including conception, design, development and application
  • Design and develop complex system architectures, and define key capabilities and performance requirements by applying advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts
  • Experience and proficiency with product architecting (functional/physical) and platform (integral/modular) creation tools
  • Strong experience providing technical direction and guiding the logical design and development on large scale projects across multiple departments
  • Lead the customer needs assessment through product/technology evaluation, architecture development, and product design
  • Develop models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development
  • Identify, define, and recommend solutions to significant technical problems based on input from many functions and engineering disciplines
  • Comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in the technical field as it pertains to the scope of responsibility
  • Coach and mentor more junior technology associates
  • Develop strong relationships with business and platform development team members by being proactive, displaying a thorough understanding of the product development process and by recommending innovative solutions
  • Use disciplined work methodologies utilizing scientific and statistical methods in resolving problems, devising tests and setting specifications

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Physics or related field
    • 10+ years of experience of complex electromechanical systems in clinical-medical device/IVD projects
    • Strong organizational, communication and team skills, and thrive in fast-paced environment
    • Willing to work hands-on in developing and executing program deliverables
    • Technical Leadership experience of large teams and projects to drive key deliverables and timelines

      Minimum Qualifications:

      Bachelors degree in engineering,science or closely related discipline with eight or more progressive work experience. Exceptions to the degree requirement at this level require approval of the appropriate level of Senior Management.   8 or more years of progressive development work experience. Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics
