Job Overview

As an industry leading contract manufacturer, nothing is more important than our customers and the quality of the products we produce for them. As a result, Plexus has an exciting opportunity for an innovative and experienced Quality Manager to join our Chicago Manufacturing team.

The Quality Manager will provide leadership and management for Quality Management System (QMS) and sustain the quality policy and culture for the ISO 135485/FDA certified site that focuses on the manufacturing of medical devices. They will manage quality assurance, control processes, and programs by developing, implementing, and administering quality standards and procedures assuring product quality, continual improvement, and customer satisfaction.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • QMS Management Representative for the site
  • Ensure compliance to customer, regulatory, and business requirements
  • Manage site Training program, requirements, and compliance
  • Manage standard practices for site Supplier Quality processes
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain site Quality Metrics (includes customer satisfaction interaction)
  • Drive site product and process quality improvement using function-appropriate tools (i.e. CAPA, audit, etc.)
  • Manage external/internal site audit processes
  • Ensure Quality participation and provide quality input for QBRs
  • Ensure Quality team involvement in applicable product planning & manufacturing release processes
  • Ensure management and control of non-conforming material/product process
  • Ensure site compliance to applicable QMS documentation and communication of QMS effectiveness
  • Responsible for continued in-depth understanding of all Plexus’ medical device quality and regulatory standards, certifications, and other requirements
  • Includes engagement with Corporate Quality Services and Regulatory Compliance teams on medical device regulations and strategy.
  • Experience with FDA inspections and other international regulatory body audits is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge and implementation experience in applicable QMS standards and regulations (i.e. ISO 9001, AS9100, FDA QSR, TL9000, etc.)
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet the needs of the business
  • Additional duties as assigned by management


  • Displays Plexus Leadership Values and Competencies as applicable
  • Advanced knowledge and implementation experience in applicable QMS standards and regulations (i.e. ISO 9001, AS9100, FDA QSR, TL9000, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge in applicable industry standards (IPC, J-STD, etc.)
  • Capability to assess, manage, develop, and mentor Quality organization personnel
  • Knowledgeable in Lean and Six Sigma concepts and tools
  • Expert communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledgeable in data analysis tools
  • Strong cross-functional team building skills
  • Ability to lead and multi-task in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to quantify and assess benefits/risks of process improvement


  • A minimum of 10 years in a Quality position or equivalent experience is required for this position; a Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Experience of 10 years is required for this position, assuming education requirements are met. Equivalent industry experience of 3 or more years is highly desirable.
