**Job Description:**







**Position overview:**







Junior to mid level Mechanical Engineer to contribute to new platform development. Contributions are expected at the individual level. . Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Capable of integrating requirements from the various stakeholders and have demonstrated judgement to balance the needs of cost, quality and time-to-market.







Mechanical Engineer requirements:







Contribute to RT-PCR, sample preparation instrumentation and consumables development from concept to successful production following design control under ISO9001 or 13485 guidelines.







Skillful in applying engineering theories including mechanics of machines, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and strength of materials during product development. Able to select manufacturing method and use creative part design to meet cost target with reliable performance and easy maintenance.







Design capability with CAD/ CAE software such as Solidworks. Knowledge of simulation software such as Comsol Multiphysics software will be helpful.







Hand-on experience with prototyping and testing, and knowledge on mass production of CNC machined parts, sheet metals, die casting, extrusion, sintered metal components, plastic injection molded parts, and bonded or laminated plastic consumables.







Able to prepare specification, documentation, assembly instruction and QC procedures for production release.







Experience in life science industry or clinical equipment manufacturing with knowledge of motion mechanism and drives, optomechanical assemblies and microfluidics design is desirable.







Self-initiative and work in a startup environment within a major multi-national corporation.







Accredited bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or equivalence with more than 5 years of related design experience

Experience in development of products in a life sciences or regulated (CE-IVD, FDA) diagnostic environment is highly desirable.







Experiences with worst case analysis of complex assemblies, including multi-lot variability from suppliers, and understands practical first pass yield.







Desire to join a start-up effort within a major multi-national corporation.







Should be able to draw on first principles to figure out effective solutions.







**Additional Skills Sought**







Classical and modern control theory applied to data acquisition and laboratory system/subsystem control.







The engineer will support the development of detailed requirements, engineering specifications, verification and validation , and supporting regulatory submissions of these devices.







Participate in FMEA, worst case analysis and verification/validation of product/design







Design and develop specialized test fixtures, as needed, to support design and for manufacturing.



Work closely with program managers, scientists, firmware, mechanical and optical engineering teams. Create technical specification and subsystem requirement specification documents.







Transfer of designed products to manufacturing and support any post-launch and service issues. This incudes design and delivery of manufacturing test fixtures and calibration systems.







Ability to understand scientific and systems-level engineering questions and propose and deliver solutions.

Ability to work independently and in project teams.







Excellent communication skills (written and spoken or most importantly, through demonstration of beautiful designs
