The Market Research Consultant supports the improvement of the companys auto and/or home competitive position, profitability, and retention. He/she does this by examining current product features, pricing components, and general processes to support profitable growth. The grade level will depend on the individuals experience and skill level. Senior Market Research Consultant candidates are also encouraged to apply.


+ Provide data-driven analysis to identify trends and opportunities

+ Learn from SMEs to develop strong understanding of insurance concepts and processes

+ Supports data requests made by other departments

+ Develops and designs presentations to show findings

The role is focused on analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data to identify opportunities in our products, services and processes for the Auto/Home product line. The individual will work with multiple SMEs in different areas including Pricing, Underwriting, Claims, Marketing, Operations, and State Product Management. The individual will conduct small-scope project work and perform ad hoc analyses. The work sometimes is done independently and other times with guidance and supervision from advanced level consultants and management. Ultimately, the consultant helps the team understand multiple areas of opportunity and our implementation options by working closely with others to implement new or modified processes.

The associate will retrieve quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources and often will:

+ Review the data for accuracy

+ Revise methods of data retrieval when necessary

+ Prepare basic reports

+ Presents conclusions and/or additional inquiries for scope of project

+ Presents suggestions for process improvement and/or goal changes.

+ Present analysis and findings that engages various audiences.


+ Bachelors Degree in Business, Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science or Related of study is preferred

+ 0-3 Years of Property and Casualty Insurance or Related Professional Experience

+ Proven Time Management Skills

+ Passion to Learn

+ Comfort with ambiguity and ability to think conceptually, analytically, and creatively

+ Demonstrated application of mathematics, statistics, probability, and principles of finance to problem solving

+ Basic technical aptitude and experience in data manipulation with tools such as SAS, SQL, R, or other data management/warehouse tools

+ Intermediate to Advanced skills in Excel including ability to create, manipulate, and formulate spreadsheets, vlookups, pivot tables, charts, and graphing

+ Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work independently

+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

+ Ability to develop knowledge of MetLife Property and Casualty products and services

+ Ability to develop knowledge of MetLife systems, databases, and applications
