**Position Overview:**



We are building a new R&D team in Pittsburgh and looking to hire a Lead Tools Software Engineer. In this role, you will increase the competitiveness of Siemens' products by creating sustainable software systems. As the Lead Tools Software Engineer, you will help guide and motivate the team to support and enforce an appropriate implementation, quality assurance, test, maintenance and evolution of the software designed, even in the face of strategic changes approaching the project. You will lead the design and implementation of the stakeholders requirements for a given project and ensure that the design satisfies all requirements, allocates the various requirements to specific subsystem/components, and ensures compliance with high-level decisions.







**This Role will include the following responsibilities:**







+ Helps provides technical leadership to the team, collaborators and customers with respect to state-of-the-art software and system architecture methods, tools and trends.



+ Performs Software reviews and assessments



+ Ensures the implemented product adheres to the aforementioned architecture and decisions made around the architecture



+ Must have knowledge of each phase of the lifecycle and should be able to successfully lead and coach team members during each phase



+ Performs complex design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of Windows-based software to interface with embedded control systems.



+ Completes the development of software test requirements for complex modules under development, executes complex test specifications.



+ Completes estimates for complex modules under development and estimates own work.



+ Performs reviews of complex customers' standards specification and other documentation to determine software engineering requirements.



+ Performs presentations of complex technical findings and developments.



+ Completes the software quality process through the execution of complex module, subsystem and system test procedures.







**Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience**







+ Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science. Advanced Degree preferred - Masters, PhD, or MBA. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience.



+ Demonstrate and applies a broad knowledge of software engineering through successful completion of moderately complex assignments.



+ Demonstrate strong knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of software engineering.



+ Qualified applicants will have 6+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.



+ Proven capability to lead SW development and the use of development tools sets



+ 6+ years experience with C/C++/ Java and development of windows and web based programs using development kits such as MFC/MS SDK



+ Technical knowledge of signaling, operations concepts in rail industry, and rail products



+ Strong analytical skills



+ Experience with Embedded Control Systems design & development



+ Experience with Safety critical/Vital systems



+ Quality assurance, testing, test automation, verification, validation, and requirements engineering



+ System/ Software architecture
