Job Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation of software design requirements and detailed design specifications for implementation of software designs per Abbott design development process.
  • Assist in the evaluation of selected designs through testing and full documentation of the results.
  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Experience in developing automated test cases in Java and/or other programming languages.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and integration with build systems
  • Experience developing automated solutions for mobile, web and desktop platforms.


    • Bachelor Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
    • 6-8 years of development experience with Java
    • 6-8 years of database modeling/design experience using SQL 
    • 6-8 years of software infrastructure support, including software configuration and release management
    • 1-3 years of leading software architecture and design experience
    • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) phases and Rapid Development Frameworks
    • Experience with software development design patterns and methodologies including OOAD and MVC
    • Experience with HTML5 and JavaScript Libraries such as Knockout, Angular and Kendo UI preferred
    • Experience with Unix/Linux (*NIX) platforms
    • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
    • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
    • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
    • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
    • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
    • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail


      • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred
      • Experience in a regulated industry required (medical device development experience preferred
