**Role Value Proposition:**

The Director IT will support the VP of Information Governance in the management of the global Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) program and Enterprise Information Governance generally. Specifically, the Specialist will have lead responsibility for key ILM initiatives and work streams. The position will also provide guidance and recommendations to decision-making and advisory forums within the ILM Governance Structure and manage components of the operationalizing of the ILM strategy through the Program Office. Lastly, the Specialist will also collaborate with IT, Risk Management, Privacy, Audit and other stakeholders and take the lead or be a lead in delivering ILM requirements and compliance strategies to minimize potential risks.

**Key Responsibilities:**

1. **Advising the Governance Board and Peer Programs**

+ Provide recommendations to the VP concerning Program technology direction and following-up on action items that will be discussed at the ILM Governance Board.

+ Lead escalation process concerning IT related matters: present to the ILM Working Groups escalated issue that will have a material impact on the ILM Program and advise on which decisions can be resolved by the Program Office or need to be escalated to the Governance Board.

+ Work collaboratively with the Enterprise Data Governance Team and the Data and Information Leadership Council (and other identified forums), and our IT partners to integrate ILM Program best practices and procedures for managing electronic unstructured, semi-structured, and structured information into current environments.

+ Advise IT leaders on the ILM requirements to be included in the commissioning of new technology solutions and decommissioning existing technology solutions.

+ Acts as liaison on behalf of the VP of Governance with other key enterprise-wide initiative stakeholders such as Enterprise Data Governance, Privacy, IT Risk & Security, Compliance and Audit.

+ Drafting and maintaining global policies and revising when business needs or regulatory requirements change.

1. **Managing components of the operationalizing of the ILM strategy through the Program Office**

+ Proactively identifies and addresses concerns which may negatively impact the ILM Program.

+ Support efforts to augment the Program based on lessons learned and shared leading best practices with an emphasis on technology. Working with VP develop initiative to address then lead or have leading role in executing the initiative.

+ Participate in technology evaluations and manages enterprise vendor contracts and participate in enterprise level ILM related vendor management activities as required to support ILM Program.

+ Serves as liaison between the Line of Business (LOBs) and Corporate Function Working Groups and the ILM Program Office including working collaboratively with and advising the Working Groups on significant Program decisions and resolving escalated Program issues.

+ Support the ILM component of the legal hold process and provide technology expertise to support the legal hold process, as needed.

+ Support ILM Compliance Framework: has a leading role in working with IT, Legal, Risk and Internal Audit and other stakeholders to develop the framework using existing process, aggregate enterprise compliance reporting to gain an enterprise assessment of compliance, provide input to ILM enterprise-level mitigation and action plans, and partner with Audit to foster compliance through existing audit processes.

+ Own management of Key Performance Indicators: Under direction of VP, support the development and management of Key Performance Indicators. Provide guidance to Lines of Business and functional groups as it relates to meeting Key Performance Indicators.

+ Own the ILM Certification Program: under direction of VP, support the Legal Specialist in the development of the certification framework and process, implementation of the program, management of it as BAU activity and working collaboratively with Lines of Business and functional groups to achieve Program Certification.

+ Manage the Shared Services program: under direction of VP and partnering with IT, develop Shared Services program for enterprise ILM technology, support ITs implementation of the program and management of it as BAU activity, and support IT in onboarding LOBs and corporate functions onto the technology.

+ Provide guidance and support to ILM Program Office as it relates to technology direction.

+ Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.

**Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:**

+ Experience working in a global enterprise.

+ Experience working with regulatory and legal information management requirements as they relate to information, data and records requirements regardless of the media type.

+ Proven ability to lead teams, articulate program goals, and provide leadership to all levels of corporate staff and stakeholders.

+ Proven track record for implementing complex initiatives.

+ Ability to delegate tasks and authority to appropriate resources.

+ Excellent written skills


+ Ten years of experience in Information Management and Information Systems, preferably in a global corporate environment.

+ Experience in the Financial Services Industry. Insurance industry is desired but not required.

+ Experience as leader of significant project or team.


+ Effective and persuasive verbal communicator.

+ Program and/or Project Management experience.

+ Bachelors degree. Preferred educational background including information technology.
