Primary Function | Primary Goals | Objectives:

The function of this role is to lead the development of a third party risk management program to be embedded in category strategies, as well as, lead the strategic sourcing of the human resource technology requirements.  The position will:

  • Create, implement and manage a third party risk management strategy across external spend categories.  Framework to include policies & procedures, execution, governance, reporting and training.
  • Design and implement process to profile the risk of a specific category or supply base to be embedded within the category sourcing strategies.
  • Create and maintain a playbook and education plan on third party risk management for the broader procurement community.
  • Establish a governance structure to provide ongoing monitoring and measurement of improvement.
  • Develop the sourcing strategy for Human Resource technology needs. 
  • Effective manage the ongoing needs of HR Technology Category.

    This role requires strong financial, analytical, project management, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to operate in a matrix infrastructure, including direct and co-sponsored company-wide procurement activities, working closely with senior leadership, Category Managers and Vertical Leads in pursuit of sustainable impact.  This role will act as a key contact for global stakeholders for all third party risk and HR technology sourcing.  Strong collaboration with regional counter-parts is required.  This position will also be leading continuous change, using creative and differentiated thinking to continually optimize processes around third party risk for the procurement function and collaborating with other functional leads to incorporate a total view of risk across third parties.

    This position is responsible for:

    • Creation of global strategies and strong collaboration with regional counterparts to assure applicability and alignment

        This position will interface with internal stakeholders and external suppliers at decision-making levels.  Ability to demonstrate the successful performance with the following activities:

            Core Job Responsibilities:

            • Initiate, develop, influence and manage execution of programs and strategies.  Assist in ensuring internal and external compliance with policies, procedures and program requirements. Align global procurement organization to ensure full benefit of Abbott’s best practices, corporate leverage opportunities and spend activities.
            • Ensure implementation of best practices and compliance across categories to guarantee global, regional and local leverage and impact.
            • Act as key contact for stakeholders globally for third party risk and HR technology needs.
            • Manage risk programs via a matrix procurement organization across all categories, which will include solid and dotted line authority.
            • Lead the organization through required change initiatives.
            • Sell and promote strategic risk programs across the organization to align Global Procurement activities, garner resources, drive programs through complex sourcing processes and ensure end results meet the requirements of all organizations impacted.
            • Deliver successful procurement projects that yield significant benefits within the HR technology category including P&L savings, balance sheet optimization, sustainable long term agreements and risk mitigating supply strategies.
            • Manage activities with current staff, including performance management, project planning and workload management, employee development and expense/budget management.
            • Maintain excellent knowledge of stakeholders’ business environment, cultures, challenges, financial and technical requirements.
            • Lead a high performing team capable of driving vision, in alignment with Global Procurement’s 5 Points of Purpose.

                  Minimum Education:

                  BS Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering, Business or like degree

                  Masters’ Degree Preferred

                  Other: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) desirable

                  • Emphasis on financial, technical, and business aspects to ensure best-in-class purchasing practices and outcomes 
                  • Importance of excellent relationship building skills

                    Minimum Experience:

                    6+ years of Procurement or deep category experience, skills and practical knowledge required:
